25 Signs You Know You're From A Big Family

From squishing into the Suburban every Sunday morning for church, to never being able to decide on a movie for family movie night, and all the craziness and dysfunctions between. Here’s to never having a dull moment and all the quirks of being raised with multiple siblings.

1. Your wardrobe always consists of hand-me-down clothes.

2. If you weren’t one of the first ones to take a shower in the morning you knew you had a cold and short shower awaiting.

3. After grocery shopping there are never “good” foods in your house because all of the sweets are gone in the first day.

4. Since everyone goes for the sweets you know you can find that one sibling hiding the good stuff.

5. Whenever you go on a road trip you always wait in the jam-packed car for at least twenty-five minutes for your mom.

6. The eldest siblings ALWAYS gets shot gun and you learn to respect that rule.

7. Since you have so many siblings there is always someone to do activities with.

8. You can never go anywhere in public with the entire family because, to be honest, it turns into a complete sh*t show.

9. Especially at the grocery store.

10. If someone is dating your sibling they are dating the entire family.

11. At one time, there was one kid in every school system from grade school to college… crazy amount of tuition (I don't know how you do it mom and dad).

12. When you go to family parties you have to make sure the rest of the extended family ate because once you guys get in line there's no going back…every piece of food suddenly disappears.

13. You guys are way too open with each other and most people find it, to some extent, weird and creepy.

14. But you don't mind because you are 110% of your goofy self around them.

15. Taking a Christmas picture was stressful and took 400 snaps because there was always one person flinching, not looking or making a silly face.

16. You guys pick out each other flaws 24/7 but don’t worry you're able to take it and dish it back just as hard.

17. Growing up there were always neighbors and your siblings’ friends in and out of the house.

18. Your parents call you every one of your siblings' names before getting it right.

19. When you are all together you can’t hear a thing because everyone is always trying to talk over each other.

20. Because of all the your siblings’ practices, clubs, lessons, etc. it was a strange occurrence to be on time and your parents forgot about you at least once or twice.

21. You learn to sleep through any type of commotion.

22. There’s that one sibling who is always innocent during any argument or fight (that was always me hehehe).

23. And fights can get pretty ugly… you see that string cheese on the counter, you’ll grab it and let the other sibling know you aren’t afraid to use it as a weapon.

24. As you grow up you learn that those stupid fights mean nothing now and you realize your siblings are your closest best friends.

25. Because I mean those crazy and sometimes embarrassing sisters and brothers of yours are your people and you wouldn’t want it any other way.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
