25 Signs You're A Writer

From endless notepads to hundreds of books, and a mind that just can't seem to turn off, you've always described yourself as a "writer." You'd rather write it than say it. You think of things any normal mind would think is weird. I say "normal" because let's face it, as writers, we are one of a kind.

As writers, we were born as some might say, "right-brained." Our creativity is even too large for our own selves to comprehend and understand sometimes. Which makes it hard for us to explain to others how we "come up" with the things we do. If you're a writer, you'll probably be able to relate to the following….

1. You own an obnoxious amount of journals

2. You buy a lot of books you sometimes never even get to read just in case you might want to some day

3. Which makes you a book hoarder

4. You love adventure

Going anywhere or doing anything that might give you new ideas for your book is a plus.

5. You love listening to your thoughts

6. Your phone is always on silent

Just so no one bothers you while you are in the middle of thinking about how your novel is going to end

7. You write in your sleep

You have really weird dreams that give you great ideas for a book. Half of the time you can't even make sense of it but you write it down anyway.

8. You have a "spot" where you think you write your best in your house, coffee shop, or local library

9. You find new inspiration in something random

10. Which often puts you into a writing groove and you can't stop

11. The biggest annoyance is writer's block and yes, it is a real illness

12. You often daydream about which celebrity will play which character when your book becomes a movie

13. You don’t enjoy movies or books like other people because you have to break everything down and are constantly trying to guess the story events before they happen

14. Your computer, phone, and notebooks are filled with story ideas that you’ll get to... One day

15. Every person you see could become a potential character for your novel

16. You turn down set plans with family or friends so you can keep writing. Next thing you know it's 3 a.m.

17. Your friends, family, or random acquaintances often ask you to edit their important emails, essays, and even Facebook posts because "You know how to make it sound good."

18. You often put off major things until you’re done with a chapter

Showering, eating, doctor's appointments...

19. Your family, friends and readers keep asking you when your book will be finished, and you’ve learned to tune them out

20. Because you've actually "finished" your book several times but then decide to change something... again

21. And you keep going back and rewriting the first sentence for the hundredth time to make it perfect

22. Resulting in eventually forcing yourself to stop and to just send it to your editor

23. By now you've literally fallen in love with your characters

24. And there is no greater feeling than when your book is actually done

25. Don't lie, you've been thinking about your current novel or writing project this entire article and now can't wait to get to writing

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
