For those of you who don’t know, ‘The Burgh’ is short for Pittsburgh; home of Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Primanti Bros, Pamelas, and many great sport teams both college and professional. Living in Pittsburgh not only comes along with great sandwich places and pride for sports teams, but also a special dialect, rally towel, and much more. Here are 25 things that anyone who was born and raised in Pittsburgh will understand and appreciate.
1. You bleed black and yellow... and always jam when that song is played.
2. It’s pop not soda.
3. Mikey and Bob is a must in the A.M. with roads jammed with jagoffs.
4. You know what a jagoff is.
5. You refer to a group of people as ‘Yinz.’
6. Kennywood is the best amusement park ever. No argument.
7. And a visit there isn’t complete without Potato Patch Fries.
8. But you what people mean when they say “Kennywood's Open.”
9. When you go to other cities, you are surprised when there aren’t fries on your salad.
10. Or on your sandwich (S/o Primanti Bros).
11. You think (and know) that Pierogies are little pieces of potato heaven.
12. And you know how watching them run is just as fun as eating them.
13. You refuse to use any other brand of ketchup besides Heinz.
14. You refer to your city as the City of Champions (but remember the Pirates as well).
15. You know Mt. Washington has the best view of the city.
16. Pittsburghese is your second (and sometimes first) language.
17. Driving through the Ft. Pitt Tunnel never gets old to you.
18. The pride for your sports teams is unmeasurable.
19. Chances are once a day you will drive across a bridge... it isn't called the city of Bridges for nothing.
20. You don’t think twice when driving by a spray painted Dinosaur.
21. You understand the Pittsburgh left when driving.
22. You can easily point out the Burgh in popular movies (Dark Knight Rises, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Abduction, Concussion, just to name a few).
23. You never forget your terrible towel on game days.
24. Family fights usually start over having to decide between Mineos or Aeillos for Friday night pizza.
25. You just really love your city despite what everyone else says.
