1. Football starts.

I mean come on, who doesn’t get excited about Friday night football?

2. Leaves change color.

  • As the leaves turn from seaweed and crocodile green to tiger and marmalade orange or even crimson and scarlet red, the scenery becomes more beautiful and decorative than ever.
  • 3. Sweater weather

  • Going from super warm weather to sunny days with cool crisp winds, it’s the perfect time of year to bundle up in your favorite sweaters and rock those flannels.
  • 4. Fall scented products

  • What’s better than coming home to the sweet smells of pumpkin swirl and autumn leaves? At this time of year, you can easily find me clearing out the fall section in Bath & Body Works. What about even going to Dunkin Donuts and getting a pumpkin spice coffee or pumpkin swirl muffin?
  • 5. Bonfires

  • The crackling and smell that you are able to experience with your friends while sitting around cooking marshmallows and just having fun. The way that you will have the smell of the fire in your hair for days even after you take a shower.
  • 6. Thanksgiving

  • What’s better than having the family all together to celebrate the holidays?
  • 7. Pumpkins

  • From the pumpkin patches that you have to take a hay ride to, to finding the perfect pumpkin to carve your favorite character or even a scary silly face, just to have your mom season and cook the pumpkin seeds to snack on - nothing gets better than that.
  • 8. Apple picking

  • From when you walk into the farm and all you can smell is the sweet smell of apples and being able to hand pick the deliciously fresh apples. Being able to pick the best ones to make homemade apple pick and candy apples with is the best.
  • 9. Onesies

  • That comfortable and cozy feeling you get when your all snug on your bed or coach as you watch a movie. And what makes it even better is that it gives you the opportunity to dress up as whatever you want. For example: Ninja turtle, superman/batman, or even a stormtrooper from Star Wars.
  • 10. Halloween movie marathon

  • What could be even more exciting than when your favorite childhood movies come on during the "13 Nights of Halloween" marathon? There’s nothing better than watching your favorite throwbacks like “Halloweentown” and “Casper.”
  • 11. HALLOWEEN!!

  • The excitement of walking around and seeing the excitement on the little kids faces as they go running around trick or treating and trying to scare the older kids.
  • 12. Haunted houses

  • Everyone needs a good scare to keep them on their toes and there is no better way to do that than go into a mad house or corn maze.
  • 13. Walks in the woods

  • There’s no better feeling than when you go on a nice long walk and hear the leaves that have just fallen crinkle underneath your feet as you hear the wind in the trees and feel the wind brush against your face.
  • 14. Choosing which fall-colored nail polish to wear

  • Because you’d be lying if you said you didn’t have SO many orange, brown, and purple tones with (sparkles)!
  • 15. Scarfs

  • No explanation required.
  • 16. Tea & Hot Cocoa

  • The two best drinks in the world; this is the season they belong to.
  • 17. Tranquil feelings and cool vibes

  • How can you be negative when the wind is blowing in your hair?
  • 18. Thick knitted socks

  • Really starting to question if I need to explain anymore how amazing Fall is. Seriously, who doesn’t L.O.V.E. thick knitted socks???
  • 19. Reading a good book

  • There’s no better feeling than sitting by a window on a windy day and reading a book (occasionally cover to cover)!

  • Because it’s almost calming in a way, soothing to see your own breathing pattern.

  • So important, I listed it twice!
  • 22. Cuddling

  • With your significant other, BFF, or your dog, cuddling is always a fun time.
  • 23. Pranks

  • Because there’s no better way to amuse yourself than to watch horror on other people’s faces. Or is that just me?
  • 24. Watching your dogs run through the leaves

  • You’ve never seen anyone as happy as a dog running in the wind, leaves flying everywhere.
  • 25. You’re one season closer to Christmas!

  • Just think once the "13 Nights of Halloween Ends", it’s just a matter of time before the "Countdown till’ Christmas" is on Freeform.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
