25 Reasons Technology Is Turning People Into Robots

How many of you are reading this on your phone right now? Our society today has the tendency to rely on technology a little too much. We all aimlessly go through our days with our heads down texting, checking Instagram, or scrolling through emails. We all have that friend who would rather be on their phone than engage in a real conversation. Nobody really stops to think about how much they miss out on because this has become a cultural normality. Sometimes it’s crazy to think back before technology was so prevalent and remember all those little things we didn’t appreciate.

1. Having an uninterrupted dinner with your friends.

2. Always sticking to the original plan because there was no way to change it last minute.

3. Going on vacation without having to take, edit, and Instagram pictures.

4. Playing with board games instead of apps.

5. Getting lost and having to find your way by asking directions or reading a map.

6. The process of going to get pictures developed and manually putting them in a photo album.

7. Listening to the authentic sound of music coming from a CD player or radio.

8. Going to Blockbuster to rent movies for the weekend.

9. Getting a letter in the mail from someone you haven’t heard from in a while.

10. Feeling like you aren’t missing out on anything your friends did without you.

11. Enjoying a concert without hundreds of arms holding cell phones in your way.

12. Fighting with your siblings over who gets to use the landline first.

13. Reading a physical newspaper that was delivered to your door.

14. Not always having someone trying to contact you.

15. Pressing the snooze button on your actual alarm clock.

16. When you were never capable of drunk texting.

17. Turning in hand written copies of your homework.

18. Using poster boards instead of PowerPoint.

19. Not caring about what your life looked like compared to celebrities and everyone else.

20. Being able to let go of the past without constant updates from social media.

21. Having to physically carry a flashlight.

22. When meeting new and interesting people was a daily occurrence.

23.Taking notes on your hands and arms to remember things.

24. Eating delicious food without having to take a picture of it first.

25. When people gave you compliments in person, rather than commenting it via social media.

So try leaving your phone behind for once and see what it’s like to see the world through your eyes instead of the screen of your phone. Adjust little parts of your life to become less engrossed on your phone and more engaged with the people around you.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
