Because it's December, which basically means it's Christmas, we need to talk about Christmas movies. There are a million great Christmas movies out there, but there are some that stand above and beyond the rest. Therefore, I have put together a list of 25 movies--get it, because there's 25 days of Christmas?--that are must see movies for this lovely season. These are in no particular order because you can't play favorites when it comes to Christmas movies.
1. "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (1966)
Yes, there is a live action version. No it's not better. However, I am incredibly curious about the version coming out in 2018 starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
2. "Frosty the Snowman" (1969)
A classic. We could all use some inspiration from a magic snowman.
3. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" (1964)
Yet another classic, but this one has the Bumble, and dogs.
4. "Mickey's Christmas Carol" (1983)
For some reason, Goofy Marley is really, really scary.
5. "A Christmas Carol" (2009)
Marley is even more scary when it's not Goofy Marley.
6. "Santa Claus is Comin' To Town" (1970)
This is such a wonderful classic. It's impossible not to enjoy it when you have characters like Burgermeister Meisterburger.
7. "The Year Without a Santa Claus" (1974)
This movie is filled with vibrant, hilarious characters like Heat Miser and Snow Miser, and of course Mother Nature.
8. "The Holiday" (2006)
Are you in the mood to see Kate Winslet fall in love with someone who lives? Great! This movie is for you. It's a great romantic comedy for the season.
9. "Elf" (2003)
Will Ferrell as an elf? Check. Zooey Deschanel is blonde? Check. Makes you laugh while you sob? Check!
10. "Gremlins" (1984)
Gremlins is one of the greatest movies ever. But scary, like really scary.
11. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" (1989)
Chevy Chase. Christmas. End of speech.
12. "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965)
This is a Christmas classic and shame on you if you feel the need to criticize it.
13. "Rise of the Guardians" (2012)
This animated combination of holiday characters encourages your wild imagination and creativity. Dream big, and believe.
14. "The Santa Clause" (1994)
Have you seen Comet?
15. "The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause" (2002)
The toy Santa is everything.
16. "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" (2006)
While this one might not be up to par with the first, or even the second, it's still good.
17. "Love Actually" (2003)
You don't have to like it, but you could maybe try to appreciate that it is a cultural icon.
18. "Home Alone" (1990)
Admit it, you will forever want to be like Kevin.
19. "The Polar Express" (2004)
Tom Hanks and a bunch of kids who get to meet Santa? YES PLEASE! Not to mention that after watching this, the only thing on your Christmas list was a bell.
20. "Miracle on 34th Street" (1994)
Do you feel like crying? If yes, you now have an excuse if someone asks why.
21. "The Christmas Shoes" (2002)
Rob Lowe is there, and so is the emotion that crushes your heart.
22. "The Christmas Card" (2006)
This is a feel-good romantic Christmas movie, in case you want to feel warm and fuzzy.
23. "Annabelle's Wish" (1997)
This is a movie about a cow that wants to be a reindeer, and it's honestly one of the best movies ever.
24. "A Christmas Story" (1983)
Minnesota winters turn us all into the little brother too bundled up to move.
25. "Jack Frost" (1998)
Also about a magic snowman, but this one is so underrated.
So there you have it. Here are 25 movies you can invest your time in, that is, if you have time. And if you don't, start procrastinating, hop on the couch, and catch one or two or twenty of these movies!
