It's almost that time of year again; the time when, without fail, there is always some sort of holiday movie on TV to get everyone in the spirit. If you're like me, your go-to holiday binge watching involves plopping in front of the TV at night, turning on Freeform, and watching whatever jolly movie is playing on 25 Days of Christmas. Here is the schedule for this year's 25 Days of Christmas. There are many great options to check out this season, but these are my top eight, must-see recommendations.
1. "Elf" (several dates)
This movie has become a classic Christmas favorite that everyone should watch at least once per holiday season. People quote this movie all the time, especially during the holidays, and you're a cotton-headed ninny muggins if you don't know what they're talking about. Fear not! The movie will be played at least once a week during the 25 Days as well, so there are many opportunities to watch Buddy the Elf find his dad.
2. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" (several dates)
This is definitely a Christmas classic for many, and it probably should be for you too. So many great Christmas/holiday season quotes and references come from this iconic movie. Yule 100% crack up watching this one.
3. "Toy Story" Marathon (December 10-11)
Okay, this is Christmas time I know, but still a great opportunity to binge-watch classic Disney movies. Who wouldn't feel great cozied up by a fire, drinking hot cocoa and watching "Toy Story"? I know I'd love to do that. A "Toy Story" marathon will be playing December 10th and 11th for your viewing enjoyment.
4. "The Polar Express" (several dates)
Based off of the beloved children's book, this animated holiday movie isn't as funny as some of the others listed, but I still highly recommend it. Tom Hanks plays six different roles, (including the conductor which looks freakishly like him, but animated) which is pretty amazing too. It's a classic book, and the movie adaptation is definitely a Christmas favorite as well.
5. "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas" (December 22)
It's like this movie combines two great holidays in one: Halloween and Christmas. Tim Burton's world is always a strange one, but also one that's never boring and constantly an adventure. It's a good break from the traditional Christmas movies on the other days.
6. "Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups" (December 9)
It's a movie with a bunch of puppies! Do I really need to say more? Sure, it's not the best movie, but it's also a movie featuring puppies, so does it really have to be an Oscar-winning film? No, it does not...because puppies! I rest my case.
7. "Frozen" (December 17-18)
Once again, not technically Christmas-specific, but still a great movie featuring loads of snow and ice, which always reminds me of the holiday season. Plus it's a great movie to sing along with and take a break from strictly jamming to Christmas carols.
8. Freeform on TV all of Christmas Day
This might be the best day of all, not just because it's Christmas, but also because Freeform will be having an all-day Christmas movie marathon. If that doesn't get you in the holiday spirit, then you must be a permanent scrooge.
Some other A+ movies to look out for this holiday season on various TV networks are "Home Alone", "The Grinch", "It's a Wonderful Life" (my personal favorite), "A Christmas Story", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", and many more! So go get your hot cocoa, your holiday cookies, and start a nice fire, because you have a lot of movie watching to do.
