Well... at least what we thought was "cute"

Everything that we thought was "cute," but really plagued our late elementary to early teen years...

1. Gauchos

I'm not going to lie, they were pretty comfy.

2. Anything Disney Channel related, but more specifically ZAC EFRON

Don't kid yourself, you swooned over Troy and wish you were Gabriella in "High School Musical," he's still a babe anyways

3. Anything and everything from Justice or Limited Too

It's a girls world! Am I right?

4. Leggings and a tunic

Even better if your leggings had lace at the bottom or were bejeweled!

5. Headbands

Bonus points if you had the flowy ribbon at the end!

6. Zipper binders

Bulky and conventional!

7. Vera Bradley tote bags

It's not actually that bad, in middle school we just liked to use our mom's tote bags.

8. Silly Bandz

Wore so many it was probably bad for blood flow...

9. Webkinz

Every class had one; it was like you very own virtual pet. Don't even get me started on Cash Cow, that game was the bomb.

10. Juicy Couture Tracksuit

Comes in every tacky color you could imagine!

11. Nike Shox

Who spread the rumor that you got an extra bounce when you ran with these?

12. Juicy Couture Daydreamer Bags

I keep asking myself why parents let their 13 year olds prance around with the flashiest, tackiest $300 bag made...

13. Taking Selfies on a Digital Camera, throwing up the peace sign, and making kissy faces

Combine these two emojis...

and you get this...

and because it was the stone ages and there were no front facing cameras, they were taken like this...

14. Abercrombie, Hollister or Aeropostale

Hey everyone, let's all be walking billboards!

15. Wearing way too much eyeliner

In the dawn of the YouTube makeup age, our middle school years were filled with attempts to look 10 times older than we were, and definitely wearing too much black eyeliner everywhere...

16. Playing MASH

When boredom strikes...

17. Butt Branding

It's cute to walk around with "PINK" on your butt! Send help!

18. "Picnik" edited pics

"Yaasss, girl! Werk it! So Iinspirational!"

19. Going to the Apple Store just to use "Photobooth"

When everybody's parents would drop them off at the mall because that was the place to hang out...

20. Hair Feathers

You could even curl them too!!

21. Facebook tag posts (but also not having our real birthdays on FB because we were too young)

You weren't real friends if you didn't tag each other in these...

22. Going to the middle school dance

Fist bump the night away!! Featuring the "YMCA," the "Cha Cha Slide" and "Low."

23. Heeleys

My dad told me that they were dangerous...

24. Shutter shades

I think we were trying to be like Kanye...

25. Side Bangs, the poof and the side pony

The bangs and side pony were explainable, but the poof was definitely Snooki inspired.

All I have to say is...God bless the glo up.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
