25 Country Songs You Need To Play This Summer
Ballina Country Music

Country music, how often do you listen to it? If you're like me that means not often. I do however enjoy listening to it from time to time, though it isn't anything recent.

I also will admit that the best time to listen to it during the summer. Carefree, windows rolled down and hair blowing around. No one can admit that they don't listen to something country during the summer.

What songs stand out as summer? What songs make you sing at the top of your lungs? Here are 25 songs that you need to listen to in the summer of 2017.

1) Cruise by Florida Georgia Line

The remix featuring Nelly was popular and was played 24/7. The only way you can sing the song is with a fake Southern twang unless you come from the deep south.

Memorable Lyric: "Down a back road blowin’ stop signs through the middle, every little farm town with you"

2) Mayberry by Rascal Flatts

This was my favorite country song when I was little. It's so fun and innocent that it's hard not to sing along...Can I have a cherry coke now?

Memorable Lyric: "I miss Mayberry, sitting on the porch drinking ice-cold cherry Coke"

3) Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band

This is a song that sounds like the epitome of the South...Unfortunately I'll never know if it's really like that.

Memorable Lyric: "Cold beer on a Friday night, A pair of jeans that fit just right.

4) Free and Easy by Dierks Bentley

Who wants to just jump in their car with the windows down and driving through an empty road to this song? *Raises hand*

Memorable Lyric: "Ain't no telling where the wind might blow
Free and easy down the road I go"

5) American Honey by Lady Antebellum

The innocence of the sound is what jumps out of this.

Memorable Lyric: "Oh I miss those days as the years go by,
oh nothing's sweeter than summertime
"

6) Island Song by Zac Brown Band

I officially heard this a few months ago in the winter with my best friend while we were at a bar. I definitely needed a beach at that time.

Memorable Lyric: "Grab a drink beside me down in the islands"

7) House Party by Sam Hunt

I have to admit I herd a rock cover of this before I ever heard the country version. I won't admit what I like better...

Memorable Lyric: "Whatever you got on, girl, stay in it, you ain't gotta leave the house to have a good time"

8) Red Dirt Road by Brooks & Dunn

I wish I lived down South so I could blast this.

Memorable Lyric: "That summer I turned a corner in my soul
down that red dirt road"

9) She's so Georgia by Jon Langston

I somehow found this song and fell in love with it instantly, one of my favorites. It even became an inspiration for a novel idea.

Memorable Lyric: "She's a homegrown peach, she don't ever change, she's a backwoods southern belle, a hometown hottie"

10) I Don't Want This Night to End by Luke Bryan

The first time I heard it I was constantly singing it. Though I don't listen to it much anymore as I over played it.

Memorable Lyric: "And I don't know what road we're on,
Or where we've been from starin' at you"

11) Something Like That by Tim McGraw

Every year I go to the county fair and this song always seems to pop into my head.

Memorable Lyric: "I had a barbecue stain on my white t-shirt
she was killing me in that mini-skirt"

12) Barefoot Blue Jean Night by Jake Owen

I wish I was sitting around a large bonfire with a group of friends.

Memorable Lyric: "Never gonna grow up, never gonna slow down"

13) Summertime Blues by Alan Jackson

I'm the only millennial in the universe who listens to music from the 1950's. As this is a cover, I do love both versions.

Memorable Lyric: "Sometimes I wonder what I'm a gonna do but there ain't no cure for the summertime blues"

14) American Kids by Kenny Chesney

This has to be my favorite all time favorite country song. It makes me think of High School days.

Memorable Lyric: "We were Jesus save me, blue jean baby, born in the USA"

15) Honey Bee by Blake Shelton

A song that completely screams summer. Honey, bees and flowers, how sweet.

Memorable Lyric: "You'll be my soft and sweet, I'll be your strong and steady"

16) Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean

Though I grew up in Ohio, it reminds me of being young and carefree during the best part of my life.

Memorable Lyric: "Yeah I'm chilling on a dirt road, laid back swervin' like I'm George Jones"

17) It's Five O'clock Somewhere by Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffet

I think everyone has sung this at some point in their lives.

Memorable Lyric: "It's only half-past twelve but I don't care, It's five o'clock somewhere"

18) No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems by Kenny Chesney

What can I say, Kenny Chesney has the voice for summertime (And yes, I left that song out).

Memorable Lyric: "The sun and the sand, and a drink in my hand with no bottom"

19) Young by Kenny Chesney

This was another personal favorite when I was eight years old. I still can't get sick of it, too many memories.

Memorable Lyric: "We were brave, we were crazy, we were mostly young"

20) Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson

Summer on a lake? Can we blast this song please?

Memorable Lyric: "But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was, a lot about livin' and a little 'bout love"

21) Automatic by Miranda Lambert

I remember my Best Friend saying this reminded her of us growing up...Why? I don't know.

Memorable Lyric: "It's all only worth as much as the time you put in, in all just seems so good the way we had it"

22) Fast Cars and Freedom by Rascal Flatts

Should I even have words for this song?

Memorable Lyric: "T-shirt hanging off a dogwood branch, that river was cold, but we gave love a chance"

23) Footloose by Blake Shelton

I went an saw the remake with a friend of mine when it came out. Not my kind of movie but I fell in love.

Memorable Lyric: "Been working so hard, I'm punching my card"

24) Our Song by Taylor Swift

Yet another song I fell it love with when it came out. How flawless did she look in the video? Such a Barbie Doll.

Memorable Lyric: "Our song is a slamming screen door,
sneaking out late tapping on your window,"

25) Shiftwork by Kenny Chesney and George Strait

Anyone who works especially under the hot sun relates to this.

Memorable Lyric: "Work seven to three, three to eleven, eleven to seven"

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
