Now that 2017 is here, people are making resolutions for the New Year (and a lot are already failing to follow their own preset goals). For the next two weeks, the main topic of a lot of conversations will probably be, "What's your new year resolution?" Well, if you have this conversation with a college student, their resolution will probably be one of the following:
1. I will not get drunk every weekend.
2. I will hit the gym at least once a week.
3. I will try to eat more than just microwavable foods (i.e. ramen, easy mac, instant oatmeal, soup, etc.)
4. I will not make alcohol a sixth food group.
5. I will not oversleep for classes.
6. I will not go out during the week.
7. I will join a club.
8. I will get a job.
9. I will actually read my class syllabus at beginning of the semester.
10. I will not stay up all night, the night before a class, watching Netflix.
11. I will not binge watch Netflix when I have class work to do.
12. I will actually do assigned readings for classes instead of reading summaries.
13. I will not procrastinate on papers and projects.
14. I will not make caffeine a sixth food group.
15. I will eat something before class in the morning.
16. I will only hit the snooze button once.
17. I will push myself out of my comfort zone.
18. I will apply to many scholarships so I don't need another loan.
19. I will buy Starbucks/Tim Hortons only twice a day.
20. I will take the stairs to my classes, instead of taking the elevator.
21. I will wash my clothes at least once a week, instead of waiting until I have absolutely nothing left.
22. I will eat 3 meals a day, instead of eating half a bag of chips at 11 at night.
23. I will go to all classes where the professor doesn't take attendance.
24. I will actually pay attention in class, instead of playing games or scrolling through Facebook.
25. I will make the most of the next year!
These are just a few of the many resolutions that college students are coming up with for the new year.
