It's that time of year again folks. Here are my 25 favorite things about the holiday season.

1. Bringing the Christmas tree home on top of your car.

Anybody else open up the sky light so you could watch to make sure it didn't fall off the car on the way home?

2. Setting up the Christmas tree with popcorn, cocoa and music.

Strategically placing ornaments so that the cat doesn't get to the fragile ones. Actually just generally keeping your cat out of the decorations.

3. Countdown to Christmas on the Hallmark channel.

Everybody's guilty pleasure.

4. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Enough said.

5. The tradition of "vlogmas".

For all the hardcore Youtube fans out there.

6. Gingerbread house building parties with college friends.

If you haven't done this yet I highly recommend it.

7. Secret Santa

Clearly the best part of high school. Also, shamelessly admitting that planning it was your favorite part?

8. Lighting a fire and roasting marshmallows.

And of course accidentally lighting your marshmallow on fire only to realize it tastes the best that way.

9. Having a wrapping party with your siblings.

Trying to wrap that one weirdly-shaped package.

10. Coming home!

Counting down the days...

11. Seeing your Main Street all lit up.

That annual tree lighting ceremony.

12. Listening to Christmas albums on the drive back to school after Thanksgiving break.

Pentatonix Christmas album anyone?

13. Baking more Christmas cookies than you can eat.

And decorating sugar cookies with the family.

14. Winter Break.

That entire month home from college when you can spend time with high school friends and most importantly, don’t have any homework.

15. THE FIRST SNOW

Isn't it magical?

16. Driving around as a family to look at Christmas lights and going out for ice cream afterward.

Every town has that one house that goes too far...

17. Looking around at all of the candles during “silent night” at the Christmas Eve service.

And low-key trying not to burn all of your hair off.

18. All of the Starbucks Christmas drinks.

Actually just holiday-themed stuff in general.

19. Seeing the menorah all lit up on the last night for all you Jewish folk out there.

Again, trying not to burn all of your hair off. Why are there so many flammable moments associated with the holiday season?

20. Storefront Christmas windows in NYC.

Especially if you bask in their beauty while munching on some roasted chestnuts from a nearby street vendor.

21. Christmas cartoons

A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, just to name a few...

22. Going Christmas caroling.

Even after you can't feel your toes anymore.

23. General cheer/charitable mood.

Here's to all the people who stand outside in the bitter cold for the Salvation Army.

24. Getting fuzzy socks in your stocking.

Anybody else wear fuzzy socks all day every day during winter?

25. Coming down Christmas morning and seeing presents under the tree.

Nothing beats that feeling.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
