Exciting. Terrifying. Learning experience. These are a few words that revolve around having an internship. Although it may be nerve-wracking to get thrown into the real world for a few months during your summer vacation, it’s well worth it in the end—and even during it. A summer internship allows students to learn skills first-hand by professionals. It offers the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience (hopefully) about the area of the workforce that they want to go into. It’s both incredible and undeniably scary to learn brand new things, and there are many thoughts that go through a person’s head during the process.

1. I'M SO EXCITED!!!! I'm going to learn so much! I can't wait to get started!

2. My resume is going to be AMAZING after this! I will definitely get a real job after college, no worries!

3. Oh, my God, I have my own desk. I am a real business person.

4. And my own phone??? This is insane. I can set up my voicemail and everything!

5. How does one go about setting up a voicemail?

6. Wait, I just worked on a real project. People actually need my help!

7. OK, so waking up at 6:00 a.m. for an entire week has clearly not been good for me. Maybe I should go to sleep earlier.

8. Or I could just learn to love coffee.

9. I have to present things? Like actually present them to people? Hopefully, this will be better than that time in high school when I gave a five-minute presentation in less than 30 seconds.

10. Alright, presenting things isn't that bad! And I can have notes! Piece of cake.

11. I have weekly meetings which means I need to remember what happened last week. And the week before that. I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night!

12. I wonder what my friends are doing right now. Maybe they're at the beach. Or exploring Europe. Or skiing in Colorado.

13. OK, they're probably just watching TV at home, but still.

14. Whoa, I'm actually learning a lot of stuff. And it's going to help me with my future career. And I'm getting paid for learning!

15. This place is awesome.

16. I wonder where I'm going to work when I graduate from college.

17. What if I can't find another internship next summer? Do I need to do one every summer??

18. I have been using Excel for the past nine days. Somehow I've learned more about it now than I ever did when I had to use it for my Physics Lab.

19. I have actual skills! I'm kind of good at doing professional things! Maybe I can make it in the real world!

20. I'm going to need to find a job that doesn't make me wake up at 6:00 in the morning, though. Is that possible?

21. I don't think I've ever had to shake this many people's hands before in my whole life.

22. Everyone here seems to know exactly what they're doing. I wonder if I'm going to be like that after college.

23. Who am I kidding; of course I'll know what I'm doing after college. I'm amazing!

24. I only have a few weeks left?? I feel like I just started yesterday!

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
