Thanksgiving is less than a week away and I am sure all of you are as excited as I am! All the food you're going to eat and all the deserts you are about to consume. Not only that but some of us will be with family we have not seen in a long time.

Thanksgiving is not just a place to stuff your face with food as much as we like to think it is. It is a day when we get to take a step back, look at the world around you, and be thankful that it is all there for you. You may have had a bad days, weeks, months, maybe even years. But that does not mean you cannot be thankful for the good things in your life that has taught you to be the person you are today.

This holiday may not be how the Pilgrims and the Wanpanoag Native tribe expected it to be but it stuck as a tradition 200 years after the first Thanksgiving giving us the opportunity to say thank you to friends, family, and yourself.

Here are some things we should all be grateful for.

1. Food

We have food in order to survive. There are so many people around the world that are starving and we should be grateful we have the opportunity to have food on the table.

2. Family

They may be a pain in the butt, but they are still your blood. They make you laugh, cry, and they also want to make you punch them, but they will always be there for you through thick and thin.

3. Friends

Of course when your family does get on your nerves, you can always run to your friends and be with them for a while. When family gets tough, your friends will always be there to be your special family.

4. Freedom

I sound like the American that I am when I say this but it is true. Not everyone in the world gets the freedom like a lot of us do. We are able to do everyday things without watching our backs, and we have this because of our men and women protecting us.

5. Safety

This ties along with freedom. Our men and women are on the front lines to protect us. It is the most grateful thing we have and should keep in our minds.

6. Significant Other

You'll grow old together, you'll go through tough times together, and you will always love each other.

7. Sports

Who doesn't love watching football games, lacrosse games, or swim meets?! It is a great way to bond with friends, family, and maybe even strangers!

8. Teachers/ Professors

Our education is important and we should not abuse that. We are all intelligent, and we should thank our teachers and professors for giving us the ability to pursue in our future careers.

9. Home

Shelter gives us a chance to survive. Be thankful for the house you live in, big or small.

10. Talents

Music, art, writing, sports, etc. Be grateful for this! Your talents are what makes you you!

11. Weather

Rain, Sun, Snow, Wind. Be happy that the World is what makes you believe in magic!

12. Books/TV

You have the ability to escape reality. Be grateful for the reasons we have books and movies!

13. Chocolate

Okay, I know a lot of people don't like chocolate or some are even allergic to it, but for those who love chocolate, you are the happiest person you can be when you eat that delicious piece of chocolaty goodness!

14. Music

Music is what makes the world go round. It defines you and makes you unique. Don't stop rocking out to your favorite song! Be grateful for it!

15. Children (for parents or anyone who loves children)

For the new and old parents, your children may have/are/will be a thorn in your side but they are still your children and they will make you laugh when you want to cry.

16. Money

If you only have a little or a lot it does not matter. You have the amazing ability to treat yourself or your loved ones with a nice gift.

17. Travel to see amazing places

Car, airplane, train, subway, etc. If you have the ability to get out there and see the world, take it!

18. Pets

For those who have pets, you know where I am coming from. Dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, whatever you have, they are your loyal companions and they always will be.

19. Job

You have the ability to make money for yourself and your family. Do not ever take that for granted. You may hate your job or you might love it, but it will help you get to where you want to be.

20. Medicine

Medicine is what helps you stay alive. No one wanted to be gone from this world, especially for young ones. They want to get out and see the world! Make sure you take your medicine to stay healthy and strong.

21. Clothing

Clothing will keep you warm and happy on those cold winter days. During the summer, you may want to just rip them off but be happy that you look good and you are protected from the harmful elements in the world.

22. Education

This ties in with teachers and professors but your education is the one thing you should be grateful for. Education will help you graduate and get that job to make money for a nice and comfortable living.

23. Faith (if you are religious)

For those who are religious be happy that there is faith in your heart and love on your mind. Its what makes the world go round

24. Yourself

Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT forget to be grateful for yourself.

And there you have it! 24 things we should all be thankful for everyday and not just one day out of the year! I hope you all agree and enjoy your wonderful Thanksgiving!

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about.
