When summer boredom hits, it seems like the only thing to do is go lay by the pool...or plop on the couch watching movie marathons. But I promise, there's so much more to do. It just takes a little bit of thinking outside the box to curb that boredom. Here are some things to do in the summer other than watching Netflix:

1. Make a summer reading list

2. Volunteer somewhere in your community

3. Transfer photos from your phone to your computer

4. Donate clothes you haven't worn in a year

5. Learn an instrument

6. Go to a coffee shop just to read

7. Try a new fitness class

8. Learn how to cook something you’ve never made before

9. Take an art class

10. Create a Spotify playlist

11. Attend a play or concert

12. Learn how to properly manicure your nails

13. Take a day off from work and roadtrip with your friends

14. Paint your walls a new color

15. Mix and match your clothes to make new outfits

16. Mentor someone younger than you

17. Dine at a restaurant with a unique experience

18. Instead of going to the mall, go bargain shopping at thrift stores

19. Find inspirational people to follow on Instagram

20. Deep clean your car

21. Find a new magazine for beach and airplane reads

22. Be a tourist in your own city

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
