24 Things Every College Girl Needs

Because there are really 1000, but these are the most important ones.

Any college student can and will tell you that there are about 1000 things that you need for school that you never think of until it's too late. Of course, no one would read that long of an article (who could blame them?), so here are the 24 things that every college girl needs.

1. About a thousand pairs of leggings

They're just about the most comfortable pants on the face of the Earth, plus, they match with just about anything you can think of. Dress them up with a cute sweater and dress them down with a baggy T-shirt or a crew neck hoodie. They're perfect for the fall and winter. They're fashionable and functional.

2. A lot of underwear

Because let's be honest, no one likes to do laundry. You can never have too much underwear. And because, sure, you can probably get away with wearing those jeans two or three times, but re-wearing underwear is a big no-no. For the sake of your roommates, your classmates and your friends, bring more underwear than you think you'll need.

3. A giant umbrella

Trust me, that mini one is cute and in theory is a great idea. However, when it's raining horizontally, you'll wish you chose the giant one.

4. Starbucks tumblers

They're cute and they'll motivate you to drink more water. They make the perfect accessory and keep you healthy and hydrated.

5. A pet fish

They're the one pet that most colleges allow and they're great company. They're very little work and awesome, easy pets.

6. Twinkle lights

These are absolutely necessary. Twinkle lights can brighten up even the darkest of rooms (literally). Plus, they're a lot less harsh than most overhead lights.

7. Emergency snacks

You never know when there will be a torrential downpour or a giant snowstorm. Keep your friends close and your Sour Patch Kids closer.

8. Microwave food

Sometimes, dining hall food just doesn't cut it. Be prepared with some microwavable mac 'n' cheese or mashed potatoes. Or some Ramen if you really wanna feel like a cool college kid.

9. A shower caddy

If you have communal showers, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Just trust me on this one. You cannot survive without it.

10. A towel wrap

If you have co-ed floors or communal bathrooms (or both), this is an absolute necessity. They're hands-free for brushing your teeth after you shower and carrying your caddy (see #9), plus they keep you nice and dry.

11. Pepper spray

If you go to a school that is in the city, you definitely want a way to protect yourself. It's much better to be safe than sorry.

12. Netflix

Everyone needs a break sometimes.

13. Spotify or Pandora

Only because Netflix can't stream music.

14. School apparel

Who knows, you might want to actually show some school spirit every once in a while. Plus, spirit jerseys and quarter-zips and crew necks are super comfy.

15. Scrunchies

Whether you're studying or going to the gym, scrunchies are a must. They don't crease your hair and they're a great way to keep your hair out of your face.

16. Pods

Liquid detergent is so overrated. It's way easier and much less of a hassle to use the detergent pods. They come in just as many scents and varieties. You're sure to find one you like.

17. Dryer sheets

They keep your clothes smelling great for even longer. Tape them over your air vent for an instant room freshener.

18. A full length mirror

Don't walk out without checking out your outfit. This will save you lots of embarrassment. Never again will you walk out with a stain.

19. Dorm decor

Simple enough, right? Dorm decor makes your bedroom you. It's a great way to express your personality and make your space your own.

20. A portable charger

Your phone battery probably won't last as long as it used to. Try out a portable charger and you'll always be at 100%.

21. A North Face

Unless you want to be cold in the winter, invest in a nice warm coat. It doesn't even have to be a North Face.

22. An iPhone

Okay, or really any smartphone. You'll probably want on-the-go access to the internet.

23. Mugs, mugs and more mugs!

Guaranteed to be microwave safe. You can make pretty much everything in them- from rice to hot chocolate to cake. Plus, there are tons of microwave mug recipes out there.

24. Fuzzy Socks

Because no one likes cold feet.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
