Texas is the best state in the world, and I'm pretty sure the 27 million people there would have to agree. I lived in Texas until I was 18, and I have to say that no other state could compare. Texas BBQ, Dr. Pepper, and the State Fair are just some of the best parts of Texas, but here are 24 other reasons, too. These aren't all the signs, but it's a good start.

1. The sky in Texas is more grand than anywhere else.

2. You are very prideful of your home state.

That famous Texas pride is real. No one will ever convince you that there is a better place than Texas.

3. Texas BBQ is like a hug from the Lord.

Like is there any other kind?

4. Everyone goes to the high school football games.

5. And you gave/got a mum at Homecoming.

6. The Mexican food in Texas is so good that it has ruined any Mexican place that isn't in Texas.

7. You have probably had a million breakfast tacos.

8. Texas has the best country music.

King George and Willie, two Texans, two of the best country singers in history.

9. You favorite flowers are bluebonnets.

10. Hearing people call cokes "soda" or "pop" makes you cringe.

11. Instead of water, 60% of a Texan's body weight is Dr. Pepper.

12. Summer night bonfires are a tradition.

13. Blue Bell is the only ice cream you eat.

14. At some point in your childhood, your family made you crack open pecans.

And with your bare hands too!

15. Whataburger will always be your favorite fast food place.

16. You made sure to go to Six Flags at least once every year.

17. Texans have their own language.

18. You're convinced only Texans know how to drive, and everyone else is too slow.

19. You grew up watching Brian Loncar commercials.

20. If you're driving down I-35, you have to stop and get kolaches.

21. You have random objects that are shaped like Texas.

22. Because Texas is so big, we measure distance in time.

"Oh yeah, Austin is only 3 hours away."

23. You have a picture with Big Tex.

24. You're blessed to be a Texan.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
