Oh, Nathan Scott. He was a brother to Lucas, a son to Dan and Deb, a father to Jamie, a husband to Haley, and a heartthrob to girls and women everywhere. He started out as kind of a jerk, but before long we were totally and completely in love with him. And we will stay in love with him, always and forever.
1. When he said, "Don't say I never gave you anything."
The beginning of our love for Nathan and one of the most well-known Naley scenes. Sure, it was just a cheap bracelet from the Cracker Jack box, but it was still perfect. It's the little things that count.
2. When he was in the BoyToy Auction.
Enough said.
3. When he stopped hassling Lucas.
This is when we were finally allowed to stop hating Nathan and appreciate his good looks without feeling guilty. Plus, who doesn't love a good brother bromance?
4. When he didn't pressure Haley.
He said, "Hey, look it's not about sex with me, all right? When you're ready, I will be too." And with that, he gave us hope that maybe we too could find a boy that wasn't just after sex (still looking, btw).
5. When he fell apart after Haley left on tour.
This made us hate Haley but love Nathan more. He was completely heartbroken and we saw that Haley was truly everything to him.
6. When he didn't lose the state championship.
This didn't end up being the best decision in hindsight (because it was the reason Haley got hit by a car), but he stood up to the guys trying to force him to lose the championship and he did what was right for his team and for Whitey. It took guts.
7. Anytime he ever called Haley "my girl."
8. When he kept calling Deb to check on Jamie.
Nathan and Haley went to one last high school party and left Nanny Deb to babysit, but then called her obsessively to check on Jamie. His concern for baby Jamie was too cute.
9. When he rapped with Jamie and Quentin.
It was so bad but so adorable at the same time.
10. Pretty much every scene with Jamie.
Jamie was basically the cutest kid ever and the fact that Nathan helped create him gives him major points. He's also such a great dad to Jamie (and to Lydia) which gives him double the points.
11. Anytime he said, "You say the sweetest things to me, Haley James."
What makes this so adorable is that he always says it right after Haley says something that is definitely not sweet. He says it sarcastically, but with a smile and a sweet voice. I melt every time.
12. When he made it to the NBA.
Nathan worked so, so hard to make it to the NBA and after everything that happened with Q, this was such an emotional moment.
13. When he told Lydia she wasn't allowed to date until she was "at least 30. Maybe 40."
Such an overprotective dad.
14. When he gave Lucas advice about becoming a dad.
He gave this advice to his big brother via walkie-talkie. So great.
15. When he sang with Lydia.
Cutest. Scene. Ever.
16. When he chooses Haley and Jamie over going to play basketball at Duke.
I'm not crying. Okay, yes I am.
17. When he gave us one of the greatest quotes in history.
Easily my favorite quote from "One Tree Hill."
18. When he said goodbye to Dan.
Dan was the evil antagonist of OTH but he did love Nathan. He died because he saved Nathan's life in the end and then Nathan forgave him. They made amends and Nathan told him he loved him right before Dan took his last breath. It took a lot for Nathan to do that and it made me love him even more.
19. When he went back to school.
Remember when Nathan decided to go back to school and get a degree? I'm still so proud of him.
20. When they stole his professor's dog.
Who could forget Dogust Kellerman, the skateboard riding dog of Nathan's professor, August Kellerman?
21. When he jumped in the water to save Cooper and Rachel.
He ever-so-bravely jumped into the water to save his Uncle Cooper and Rachel. On his and Haley's wedding day. Now that takes courage.
22. When he brought red capes to Jamie's school.
Jamie was getting teased at school for wearing his cape. So, then Nathan proved yet again that he is an awesome dad and brought red capes to all the kids in Jamie's class and convinced them all that capes were cool.
23. When he gave Jamie advice on the Rivercourt in the last episode.
It was such a beautiful Dad Talk and so fitting for the finale of the show. And how could Jamie not be a good man with a father like Nathan Scott?
