School is back in session for everyone and people are feeling it; especially us college students. The homework is back, and relentless, the sleep is minimal, the cafeteria food isn't good, the dorms are loud and the college life is hitting us hard. Here's a few thoughts every college student has the first month back at college.

1. "Syllabus week was the easiest week of the whole year."

This is the week you don't really have much homework to do, but just wait.

2. "I forgot how much homework I had last semester."

So many papers, essays, and readings.

3. "Do I really have to go to class?"

The answer is yes, yes you do have to go to class.

4. "UGGGGH."

I think this GIF sums it up.

5. "Remember, you're doing this for your future. It's worth it, just keep going."

The time you spend now will help determine the rest of your life.

6. "I'm really sick of cafeteria food and it's only been two weeks."

You can only default to pizza or a burger so many times.

7. "So. Many. Exams."

As stated above, "uggghhh."

8. "My dorm is already messy."

Clothes and homework is everywhere. Also, I should probably take out the trash and recycling soon.

9. "I need to do laundry."

Like really bad.

10. "I really need to get more food for my dorm."

Ramen, granola bars, drinks, fruit snacks, all of the above.

11. "Patiently waiting for a care package from mom and dad."

*hint hint*

12. "What is sleep?"

I need sleep.

13. "I need life to slow down a little."

Just move in slow motion.

14. "Is this assignment really that important?"

Is it really?

15. "I can't skip class, I'm paying like $50 per class period."

You're really gonna waste $50?

16. "Help me."

Please.

17. "Stop watching Netflix, and study."

OK maybe just one more episode.

18. "I miss home."

I miss my own bed, and the food, and everything about home.

19. "A nap later this afternoon is the only thing getting me through this class."

I'm gonna sleep like a baby.

20. "It's only the first month of class, it's only gonna get worse."

And maybe cry like this baby.

21. "But, I'll get back in the groove of things soon...I hope."

I really hope.

22. "Fall break is only a month away!"

Hallelujah!!

23. "As much as college stresses me out, I kinda missed it."

I really did miss it, but just a little and only certain aspects.

Whether you missed it more than I did, or dreaded coming back this fall, there's something you missed about it. And I'm sure several of these thoughts have gone through your head at some point during the past couple weeks. Go to class, do the homework and get some sleep folks.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
