Everyone knows the five love languages, and everyone also knows that they say a million other things are their love languages: donuts, puppies, etc.
Well, as Christmas rolls around, and because I've never heard of anyone who doesn't like Christmas, I think there are some special holiday love languages that everyone is sure to respond to. What of these makes you most joyful during Christmas?
1. Hot Cocoa and Apple Cider
If this is your Christmas love language, you probably drink it all year round. However, it's much more satisfying when your hands are cold and you cozy up in a blanket.
2. Stockings above the fireplace
If stockings are your love language, you probably love the candy canes and socks more than you like gifts under the tree. And, you probably have a stocking for your pets, too.
3. Driving to look at Christmas lights
The best part about this is that you don't even have to get out of your nice, heated car at all. You're also probably the one who begs your family to slow down or stop so that you can catch the full glimpse (even if there's a trail of cars waiting on you).
4. Putting up your own Christmas lights
Hopefully, you were more successful than the Griswold's, but once you spend some family time and turn those lights on, the cold, dry hands are completley worth it. It's not a surprise if your family can't find you because you were sitting outside staring at your lights.
5. Hanging ornaments on the tree
You have all of your special ornaments, and if anyone touches them... they're dead. All of the ugly ones go in the back, and all of your favorites go in the front.
6. Snow (if there every is any)
We would all love to go back to our childhood and make snow angels and igloos. But...who says we have to go to back to our childhood to want this?
7. Braum's Egg Nog Ice Cream
You've been waiting for it practically all year. You were the first in line when it came out, and if they're ever out when you go, you're tempted to leave and find the next Braum's. No matter how far.
8. Giving gifts
Successfully getting someone a good gift is the most satisfying feeling in the world. You probably spent too much money, but that's okay.
9. Baking cookies
Santa shaped, gingerbread shaped, star shaped...you name it, we'll make it! Don't forget the sprinkles and the flour so the dough doesn't stick. However, you probably already knew that.
10. Christmas music
This one can sometimes be a struggle. You hear it everywhere you: shopping, in the car, in a restaurant. And you can't decide if you like it or not. However, it's only for about one month. Just give me some Justin Bieber and Mariah Carey, and I'll be on top of the world!
11. 25 Days of Christmas on Freeform
ABC Family, FreeForm, we're not really sure. No matter the name of the station, you bet you can be found with your eyes glued to the TV anxiously awaiting for the Christmas movie of the night to start.
12. Family Christmas parties
Whether it's a vacation, just a family dinner at someone's house, or you have a rent out a space, family Christmas parties are so exciting (and sometimes obnoxious, if we're being honest.) However, there's nothing like everyone coming together, grandparents who don't remember your name and so many little cousins you can't keep their names straight. Christmas parties are something to cherish, people.
13. Matching pajamas on Christmas morning
Yes, even the dog gets matching pajamas. Why wouldn't they?
14. The after-Christmas sales
25% off? 50% off? 75%? I pray that every day is the day after Christmas.
15. Peppermint Bark
It's the simplest recipe, but it just doesn't feel right to make it any other time than Christmas. And store bought? Absolutely not. That peppermint bark will be homemade if you have anything to say about it.
16. Starbucks red cups
Everyone was probably a little skeptical after the fit that everyone threw last year, but Starbucks, you nailed it for 2016. You're not really sure whether you're going back every day for a drink or to see if you get a different cup.
17. Winter Starbucks drinks
Everyone freaks out for the pumpkin spice latte, but if this is your love language, you know that the peppermint and other winter flavors are beyond better. Venti, please.
18. Making gingerbread houses
They never turn out as good as the ones on the box, but what sort of Christmas is it if you don't make a gingerbread house?
19. Setting out cookies and milk for Santa
We're still not sure how the milk stays cold for Santa, but we think his magic takes care of it. And absolutely do NOT forget to leave carrots out for the reindeer.
20. Hallmark movies
If Hallmark movies are your love language, you absolutely cannot wait for Christmas season to begin. Despite all the hate you might get from your family members, there's nothing that could take you away from the couch while you correctly predict the ending of every single movie.
21. Warm fires in the fireplace
For when the weather outside is frightful, your fire is waaay delightful. It just doesn't feel right to sit in front of your fireplace during any other time of the year besides Christmas.
22. Watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (and Elf, duh)
I think this is basically a part of every family's Christmas tradition. Chances are, your dad can probably quote every line and if your family didn't watch it on the same day every year, is it even Christmas?
23. Throwing a birthday party for Jesus
Although the holiday has become dominated by gifts and lights and trees, for some, it's not Christmas unless a birthday party is specifically thrown for our Savior.
Which one of these is your Christmas love language?
Merry Christmas, everyone!
