22 SHA Girl Things
A small catholic, all girls, catholic high school on long island might not seem like much to some, but for those who called Sacred Heart Academy home for 4 years it means the world. The bonds we formed the memories we made will never be erased. Once a Woman of Heart, Always a Woman of heart.
You know you were a SHA girl if you can relate to any of these classic moments :
- You wore the classic SHA bun almost every day to school either with or without an obnoxious brightly colored bow attached to it and of course no makeup
- It was a daily struggle to make it up the tower stairs
- You got excited and yelled down the hall to your friends you just saw 10 minutes ago
- You could not go anywhere without seeing a SHA girl and I mean anywhere
- You were tight with the teacher clique aka Cownay, Loughren, Altruda, Grazz, Schreiner and Sheriffs.
- Chaminade boys, can’t live with em, can’t live without em
- Our sports were Lax and soccer and basically nothing else
- You at one time in your 4 years had a crush on Altruda or Loughren or both
- We have been officially creeped out by Debruin at least once
- Red and Gold may have ruined your life and a couple friendships along the way but you loved it anyway and wouldn’t trade that experience for the world.
- Your socks were never pulled up. Ever
- Davids Cookies were the answer to every problem
- Blazers were a blessing, not only did they keep you warm on those cold December mornings but they also kept your phone handy and out of view from the teachers.
- Ms Hodeau caught you and wrote you up at least once for having your phone.
- You heard the rumor about Mrs.Fodge getting run over by a boat but still to this day wonder if it’s true.
- You were lied to about there being a pool on the 4th floor as a freshman and probably kept climbing the stairs passed the 3rd floor to go find it
- Pre-gaming before senior-freshman day and walkathon was a tradition
- Senior sunrise got the best of everyone
- We all prayed for Fon Bon hall every morning even though we never found out who that really was
- We sang our school song obnoxiously and with high pitched voices *IN VIBRANT TONES WE ECHO CLEAR… ADJACENT PAR MARIUM*
- Even though at some point we may have said we hated SHA we all know deep down we loved it and there is a part of us that wishes we could go back.
- Graduation left you an emotional wreck and as you walked down the hallway for the last time waving goodbye to your teachers you are forever thankful for SHA
