22 Thoughts Bigs Have During Big/Little Week

If you're in a sorority or on a campus where there is Greek life. then you know Big/Little Week is upon us. You might have seen Facebook accounts spreading the love, Snapchats of your friends crafting or Instagram pictures of rooms decorated by Bigs. To those on the outside, Big/Little Week might seem crazy. To those in the know—we know it's crazy. The entire week is a roller coaster of thoughts and emotions.

1. When you get your Little:

OMG, I love her already!

2. If you find out you're having twins:

The more the merrier.

3. When you actually process you're having twins:

Wait...two Littles means two times the crafting—send help, please.

4. When you start stalking your Little(s):

My Littles are even cuter than I thought could be possible. Also, they have great embarrassing middle school photos that I can't wait to resurface.

5. When you create a fake Facebook account to show your love for them:

Facebook Name: BiggieLuvs Lil. They'll never know it's me.

6. When they add you as a friend on your fake Facebook account:

Finally!

7. When they comment on a picture you posted:

I'm just really excited, OK.

8. When everyone asks you how the crafting is going:

Um...what if I haven't started yet?

9. When people show you pictures of what they've already crafted:

Why is everyone so good at this?

10. When you start crafting:

So, I think I'll use glitter to cover up my lack of artistic ability.

11. When you decorate their room the first night:

Why is their room so much bigger than I thought it would be? How am I supposed to make this look nice? I definitely did not bring enough stuff.

12. When you see your Little(s) post a picture of their decorated room:

I'm awesome. My Little likes me. The world is good.

13. When you run into your Little(s) on campus:

I will not give myself away.

14. When you decorate their room the second night:

Decorating the first night went smoothly. Second night will be no problem.

15. When they almost catch you outside their door:

I spoke too soon.

16. When you decorate their room the third night:

Decorating is getting a bit exhausting, I just want them to know who I am already.

17. When it's the morning of Big/Little Reveal:

Will they be excited to find out I'm their Big? Will they be disappointed? Will we be like those Bigs and Littles who are best friends or will we have more of a mentor/mentee relationship? So much excitement.

18. When you almost accidentally post about being their Big with your own Facebook account, instead of the fake one you made:

That was almost too close.

19. When you drop off gifts for them before reveal:

I may or may not have a countdown on my phone.

20. When you reveal you're their Big:

Time for you to love me as much as I love you.

21. When you take your first family picture:

#PowerFam

22. When you finally process that you're a Big:

Someone trusted me to be a Big. I'm not the littlest Little anymore. I have someone who I can call my Little forever. Someone who I can spend late nights talking to. Someone who I can make brunch with. Let the bonding begin!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
