For the first time in your life, when August finally hits, you find yourself actually excited because you know this is the month you'll be going back to school (sorry to all the high-schoolers out there). Filled with crazy roommates, tears shed into your chem textbook and new encounters, the college experience really is like no other. Below are a few highs and lows that most of us college kids, if not all, can relate to.

1. If you go to a state school, the unbearably long lines in the bookstore at the beginning of each semester really tests your patience.

2. Nobody judges (at least not openly) for your hair being a mess and your mismatched sweatshirt and sweatpants combo during finals week.

3. Going to the beach when class is cancelled, (or sometimes even when it's not).

4. Anytime is nap time.

5. Watching all the classes you had planned fill up and being waitlisted when it's your time to register.

6. Drake dropped a new mixtape? Better listen to that while I pretend to study.

7. That one professor with the thick accent you can't understand so you just end up watching Netflix in class instead.

8. Staring at your overflowing laundry but not doing anything about it.

9. Microwaveable food. A LOT of microwavable food.

10. Getting up for your 8AM like --

11. Locking yourself out of the dorm room.

12. Realizing that some of your friends in high school were only your friends because you saw them every day, but that's a whole other story in college.

13. Mastering the art of procrastination.

14. Laughing and cringing at your snapchat stories after a night out.

15. Trying to cook a meal that isn't ramen.

16. When you finally get to the cashier at the bookstore and you watch painfully as the total of your overpriced books leaves you in debt.

17. Loathing those people who naturally ace everything.

18. Laughing at the people who wear Uggs and a winter jacket in 60 degree weather because it's "freezing," knowing they wouldn't last 5 minutes in your hometown where it rains/snows on the daily.

19. Finally getting to sleep in.

20. Bubbling in multiple choice answers like --

21. Developing an addiction to caffeine, because even if you hated coffee before, you need it because there just aren't enough hours in the day to finish all your homework.

22. When you accomplish something that makes you think maybe you can do this whole adulting thing.

Now, I’m not by any means trying to complain about being a college student, because among the harsh realities, college certainly has its perks. You’ll definitely hit a few challenges here and there when trying to balance between schoolwork and a social life, so be studious, but also be adventurous. Whether it be Sunday brunch with friends after a long week, or acing that test you spent hours studying for, these are what make the challenges worthwhile. So I think I speak on behalf of all college students when I say that we chose the college life and that isn’t a decision we regret.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
