21 Thoughts On Your 21st Birthday
Regan Witkowski

Last Sunday, it happened. After years and years of waiting, and being the butt of all my older friends jokes, I finally turned 21. Suddenly, the world was my oyster. Sixth street in Austin was my play ground; every bar we walked into had a free shot or a free drink for me and my friends. That was by far the most "Happy Birthday's" I've ever heard in my life. Everybody has their own 21st birthday story, and as they go, mine was pretty awesome. As the night went on, I found myself thinking an array of different things: "Why is it so hot in here?" and, "Seriously, when can we go get something to eat?" crossed my mind countless times. The next morning, I recapped all of my thoughts throughout the night, and put together this list. Which of the 21 did you relate to the most?

1. Wow, Drinks Are Expensive.

2. Why Did I Think Heels Were A Good Idea?

3. There Are So Many Choices.

4. What's in a ____?

5. He's Not Very Cute But It's A Free Drink....So....

6. This Bar Looked Way Cooler On The Outside.

7. Wow, This Bar Is Way Cooler Than I thought.

8. What do you mean you only make this here?

9. Can Anyone Remember Where We Saw Those Food Trucks?

10. Everything Looks Different In The Day Time.

11. No I Don't Want To Dance.

12. Hell yeah I want to dance!

13. I. Am. So. Sweaty.

14. Do I Smell Pizza?

15. " I can't remember the name of that drink from earlier...but it was pink..?"

16. There Are So Many People Here.

17. How Are those Girls Not Drenched In Sweat?

18. I'm Always Going To Pretend It's My Birthday.

19. Hmmm Taco's or Pizza?

20. Water. Need. Water.

21. Wow, Drinks Are Expensive.

For those of us that are 21, am I right? For those of you approaching your 21st birthday, stay safe and bring some aspirin!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
