For millions of Americans, Black Friday is considered the day of “treating yourself.” With sales up to 80% off at some stores, the masses head out in the early hours of the day after Thanksgiving to risk their savings (and lives) to catch a few good deals. Although Black Friday is seen as exciting and joyful for some, many feel overwhelmed and scared for their well-being by the end of it.
The Night Before
1. “I’m so excited for all these deals!!”
2. “I’m going to get everything I need for the next YEAR today."
3. “So, let’s see. I’ll go to the outlets, the mall, those stand-alone shops…. Hmmm maybe even some boutiques.”
4. “Okay, so I’ll get up at 4 am and be out of the house by 5.”
The Morning Of
5. *at 4 am* “Ugh okay I’ll get up at 4:30.”
6. *at 5 am* “Ooops. Gotta blast.”
7. “WHY is the traffic this bad so early?!”
8. “Maybe listening to Christmas music will calm my nerves.”
9. “All I want for Christmas is youuuuuu.”
At the Shops
10.“Why are these lines to even get in so long???”
11. “Help.”
12. “Omg these sales… I want everything!”
13. “Do I need that purse? YES. Do I need those shoes? YES. Do I need that shirt that is one size too big but really cute? OF COURSE.”
14. “Lemme call my family, extended family, friends, and anyone I know to see if I can pick anything up for them.”
15. *sees the last of one item* *sees someone else looking at the same item* “Fight me.”
16. *gets in line* *lady in front has 100 items* “Why... why are you like this?”
17. *at the 20th store* “Okay, bye I can’t do this anymore.”
18. *driving home* *sees a mall* “Well…… one more stop wouldn’t kill me.”
At Home
19. *sits in room surrounded by bags and receipts, feeling the onset of crippling debt* “Why am I like this?”
20. “I promise next year I won’t be THIS bad.”
21. “Wait…… CyberMonday.”
