21 Things You'd Rather Be Doing Than Studying For Finals

It's the worst time of the year for us college students — with those last few assignments to turn in, your messy dorm to be packed up and tons of studying to be done. Yep, you guessed it. It's finals week!

Here is a list of things you'd rather be doing than studying for your finals right now. So let your brain take a short break, take a deep breath, read this and then get back to studying! You're almost there.

1. Sleeping

There is a reason why this one is number one on the list. This is what we all want to do 110 percent of the time. No matter if you're in class, working or maybe even hanging out with friends, you're probably wishing you were sleeping instead. But that desire is even more magnified this week as you're studying. I know that all that's on your mind is how much you would love to just go back to sleep.

2. Watching Netflix

Close second. And this one can turn into sleep if you aren't careful.

3. Eating Chick-fil-A

Sometimes you just need to take a little break from your studies to go on a Chick-fil-A run to get some brain food, ya know? And nothing could be better than chicken nuggets and waffle fries right now.

4. Cleaning

Maybe this isn't in your top five, but something about knowing you have to study just makes cleaning sound so much more appealing.

5. Sitting by the pool

So tempting. With all of the beautiful weather we've had lately (at least in North Carolina), the only thing you want to do is lay by the pool and get a tan. However, it is finals week. You'd be happy to sit by a pool in the rain instead of studying!

6. Actually, just sitting by any body of water.

It definitely doesn't have to be a pool. Anywhere is better than where you're sitting studying for your finals.

7. Getting a milkshake from Cook Out

They're open 'til the wee hours of the morning, too!

8. Shopping

A little retail therapy can always help with stress — even stress from finals.

9. Working

If you have a job, you'd probably much rather be there than in your room or the library studying for your finals. At least you'd be making money at work.

10. Spending time with family and friends

You're so close to the end of the semester, and all you can really think about is how nice it will feel to not have to worry about school for three and a half months during the summer and how ready you are to be home, and be able to spend time with whomever, whenever.

11. Making cookies

Or, if you're anything like me, just getting someone else to make cookies for you and just eating the cookies.

12. Learning to cook

Speaking of not making cookies, maybe you should learn to cook since you're living in a dorm/apartment and will soon be on your own for good. You'd rather take a cooking class than be studying for final exams right now.

13. Reading a good book

Even if you aren't a big fan of reading, I am willing to bet you'd rather be doing some leisurely reading than be studying.

14. Did we mention sleeping yet?

After this week, there will be no more studying or assignments for three months, which could equal more sleeping in and naps for you!

15. Petting cute animals

How relaxing would it be to play with a friendly dog or rub a fluffy kitten right now?

16. Visiting Disney World

You don't have to take finals there, so it sounds good!

17. Going hiking

It's so relaxing, but at the same time invigorating to hike a long mountain trail and find a hidden waterfall or beautiful view. That sounds so nice right now.

18. Flying on a plane

Even the part about having your ears pop beats all this studying.

19. Eating

Again? Obviously because it's finals week.

20. Laying on the beach

All you can think about while you're trying to study is the warm sand and the sound of waves crashing. It would be so peaceful and so sunny. Maybe if you just close your eyes for one second... Careful, don't fall asleep!

21. Anything but studying

We've all been there. But I promise you'll get through this, and you'll kick those finals' butts! And before you know it, finals week will be here again, so enjoy every second of summer!

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
