Today is a very special day. It's my 21st birthday!

I honestly can't believe I've been around for 21 years. I'm not old, but I'm definitely not a baby. To commemorate my sparkling achievements, I've made a list of 21 things I want to tell my younger self:

  1. You are gonna get hurt… a lot.
  2. Listen to mom, dad, and Chelsey. Especially Chelsey. She’ll be your rock when you can’t go to them. She’s not a mean big sister.
  3. Be nicer to your brothers. They’re not dumb babies, and you’re not Angelica Pickles.
  4. You’ll want to be Eliza Thornberry…. but you’ll end up having Debbie’s attitude –and that's cool too.
  5. Nick Jonas is going to wave at your sister at the concert, not you. Please don’t put honey on her pillow while she sleeps to get back at her.
  6. Your hair will grow back.
  7. Drink more water.
  8. You don’t look like a bird.
  9. Or a horse.
  10. Kids in school are mean sometimes.
  11. Try harder with gymnastics/dance.
  12. Get into musicals a lot earlier. Don’t be afraid of what people will think!
  13. Mom and dad are going to get a divorce. It’s not the end of the world. It may hurt a lot, but don’t just bottle it up.
  14. 12-15 will be the worst years. THE WORST. You’ll feel like there's no way out, but I promise you there is.
  15. Tell Sweaty things when you feel like you can’t handle life anymore. That’s why she’s your best friend
  16. Listen to Sweaty more. Especially about music and TV.
  17. One Direction is gonna ruin you
  18. Zayn will leave One Direction
  19. One Direction will leave you, but you’ll live.
  20. Start your Korean lessons a lot earlier. Because GOT7 is alive and out there, and ready to take all your money.
  21. You’ve grown up to be an amazing adult. Don’t let any of your past mistakes define you. Everything will fall into place just perfectly.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
