21 Things To Do When You're Bored

As the youngest child in my family by six years, I’m in that awkward, feeling like an only child at times phase. I am the type of person who loves relaxing, but I barely do because I always want to be doing something. For this reason, all of my close friends and family members know my most common phrase is “I’m so bored.” Over the years, I’ve gotten pretty good at finding random things to do on demand.

1. Clean!

Turn your music up and clean because chances are, as long as you aren’t a neat freak, cleaning can always be done. It may be boring, but it makes time pass quickly.

2. Try some difficult nail art.

Spice up your boring nail routine and try some nail art! Grab your polish, your toothpicks, and your nail polish remover (just in case) and get to work.

3. Take up a new hobby.

My new favorite thing to do is remodel. I’m currently working on redoing my dresser from white to teal.

4. Go geocaching.

My boyfriend and I just recently started doing this, and it’s not as easy as it looks. It can be very quick or take up to hours, but it provides excitement with friends and can take you anywhere.

5. Go to the gym.

I bought a yearlong membership three months ago, and I have only used it about three times. If you’re like me…GO, otherwise, find a friend who has one or try something new!

6. Make yourself a bath and relax.

The best thing to do is to treat yourself. Grab some candles, buy a bath bomb, get your speaker and put together a nice bath for you to relax and de-stress.

7. Start a new Netflix series.

I definitely watch Netflix way more than I should, and every time I tell myself to cancel it, I get hooked on a new series.

8. Read a book.

Reading really isn’t that bad if you find something interesting to read, but I think the problem is that most of us don’t have enough time to read a book for leisure. Having nothing to do is the perfect chance.

9. Become creative with new foods.

If you enjoy cooking, look up a recipe that you would never dare making because of its difficulty, and give it a try!

10. Clean out your room or house, and donate some items to a nearby mission or shelter.

Then, you can make more room to shop for more clothes!

11. Be a little artistic.

Try painting and drawing. The more you do it, the better you’ll get…plus you’ll be proud of yourself whenever you’re finished.

12. Do some online shopping.

Everyone deserves to be treated sometimes, so why not treat yourself? I find some of the best deals online.

13. Go to a nearby store and buy some flowers or a plant.

No matter what the season, buy a plant or flower. If it’s warm, you can plant it outside, and if it’s cold you can have something to take care of inside the house. PS: With the plant above, you can grow a pineapple yourself. How cool is that?

14. Adopt a pet.

It might take some heavy convincing, but what better way to occupy your time than with an adorable puppy? I mean, just look at that face!

15. Take a walk.

Take some time to unplug and clear your head out in the sunshine. Fresh air can do wonders for the body.

16. Start a scrapbook.

Scrapbooks are a lot of work, but you’ll be happy you put it in whenever you’re able to look back in a few years.

17. Take the time to journal.

This is a great way to pass time, and clear your mind.

18. Plan some activities for the summer.

This list may not meet all of your needs, and you do not want to run into this problem during the summer. Start planning now!

19. Start a blog.

If you start this one, make sure you don’t leave it open-ended. It’s a great thing to take part it, and maybe you can use some inspiration from your journaling.

20. Start working on a healthier lifestyle.

Go to a local health food store, and stock up on healthy foods and supplements for a better lifestyle.

21. Throwback to something you did as a child.

Everyone misses being little, so act like you still are for a day! There is no shame in throwing it back. Think back to your favorite childhood activity and re-live it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
