Bardstown, Kentucky. Tourist know of it as "The Most Beautiful Small Town in America," and as "The Bourbon Capital of the World."-- us locals just call it home. Between the four high schools in our town, there is enough rivalry to go around. While everyone thinks that their school or their alma mater is the best, we all know that the best school district is found in the heart of downtown. Bardstown City Schools have shaped me into the person I am today, and I am so lucky to be a tiger. Because of this, there are some things that no one but my fellow tigers would understand..
1. Your wardrobe was/is dominated by purple and gold.
2. You also had a separate part of your closet for polos and khakis.
3. Getting the privilege to wear flip flops in high school was the biggest. deal. ever.
4. You got written up at least once for not having your shirt tucked in or leaving your belt at home.
5. Thursdays were always good lunch days. (Especially when there was nacho grande or salisbury steak on the menu.)
6. Peanut Butter sandwiches and chili day were also the best.
7. Garnis Martin Field holds a special place in your heart.
8. Going to the cave/creek was the coolest thing ever.
9. That lovely red/blue chipped paint playground.
10. The amazing mural in the Elementary School Cafeteria that was like stepping into another world.
11. Moving schools wasn't quite as scary because you were just moving less than 100 yards in the same parking lot.
12. Walking downtown after school with your friends was a normal occurrence.
13. You know who Mr. Howie is and he always managed to make you smile.
14. You know the struggle of parking.
15. That 10 year wait in the nurses office.
16. But never complaining on the wait because it was getting you out of class.
17. The awkwardly short bathroom stalls.
18. Pep Section. Enough said.
19. YOU DON'T WANT NO PURPLE AND GOLD, YOU DON'T WANT NONE. BUT IF YOU WANT SOME PURPLE AND GOLD COME AND *stomps* GET SOME.
20. Eye of the Tiger wasn't just some old song.
21. Your tiger pride isn't something you leave behind when you graduate.
22. You know they truly mean it when they say "Once a tiger, always a tiger."
