To say the least, my teen years were brutal from the start. I wasn’t the prettiest, the smartest, the most athletic, nor the most popular. That alone set me up for failure. 1. Your best asset is, and always will be, yourself and your talents

2. Large friend groups aren’t for everyone and they’re DEFINITELY not for you

3. Yes, your eyebrows will recover from that time you obliterated them with tweezers

4. Overfilling your plate just to prove yourself isn’t healthy. Do a few things that you really care about and you will have already done your best.

5. Don’t do something just because your friends are doing it

6. No, therapy isn’t “just for crazy people”

7. If you’re passionate about something, you don’t always need other people to be passionate about the same things

8. Piercings only hurt when you look while the needle is still in you (interpret that as literally or metaphorically as you want)

9. What boys think of you won’t ever matter because you don’t need one in your life to be whole

10. Washing your face every night is one of the best methods of self-care

11. Sometimes you’re going to have to do things you don’t want to, so look for the positive in everything you do

12. Alone time is GREAT

13. Putting makeup on is a fun thing, not a chore

14. If someone has a problem with you, you’re most likely not the problem

15. Being loved by others starts with loving yourself first

16. Impulsive spending is OK as long as it’s coupled with hard work

17. Just because your parents found each other at your age doesn’t mean you have to have found “the one”

18. Having a car is great, but having a car that you take care of is even better

19. Change happens. Oh well.

20. There are a LOT of really crappy people out there, but there are also a LOT of really awesome people out there

21. Everything happens for a reason and everything eventually falls into place

Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
