21 Things Everyone Must Do Over Winter Break

Now that finals are over, it seems like everyone can’t wait another moment to go home for the holidays. These past couple weeks for us college students have had a lack of sleep, an over abundance of coffee and definitely too much stress, and to be honest we all really deserve this break. Now I do understand that some of you are like myself and must stay several more days to work but you can cross some of these items off your list before you leave! For those who are already home, the idea seemed fun and all but after a couple of days you inevitably get bored and lock yourself back in your room. And what a shame that would be, instead here are 21 things everyone should do! It might take you all break or only a couple of days, but everyone can enjoy their break a bit more!

1. Watch a classic movie you have never seen before.

2. Do all your laundry…. yes, all of it.

3. Try a one new restaurant every day.

4. Visit an old hobby like photography or sports with some old friends.

5. Finally clean out your closet with stuff you don’t wear and donate it.

6. Make festive desserts like reindeer cookies.

7. Get a hair cut, it is probably time anyway since most people get one before school starts.

8. Pick a series on Netflix and binge watch the whole thing until it’s done.

9. Volunteer somewhere, anywhere!

10. Take a spontaneous day trip somewhere new.

11. Sew that hole in your favorite sweater that you keep forgetting about and hoping no one notices.

12. Dress your animal up to take pictures with Santa.

13. Discover a new artist and learn one of their songs.

14. Take your siblings out for quality time.

15. Take advantage of holiday sales.

16. Tell your loved ones that you love them.

17. Work on your LinkedIn profile.

18. Go through your phone and delete all those pictures (once you save them).

19. Wash your car, inside and out…

20. Find a reason to wear an ugly Christmas sweater.

21. Download Uber to make sure everyone can get home safe.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
