21 Accomplishments I've Set For Myself While I'm 21

Turning twenty-one in the United States is seen as big deal right now. Most people celebrate their long-waited legal drinking age by rounding up friends and showing their ID's in local bars. But in the end, it's just a year older with more responsibility. During this week I will be celebrating my twenty-first birthday, which got me thinking about what I want out of this year besides legal permission to drink and go to bars. So, here is my list of 21 things I want to accomplish while I'm 21 years old.

1. Study Abroad

Explore place I've never been to and cherish the memories I make while getting an education.

2. Travel somewhere without using a GPS

I won't rely on technology to help me get to my destination.

3. Learn how to change a tire

You know--so when I can't find my destination and hit a pothole.

4. Visit the West Coast

And see the differences in lifestyle between over there and where I live on the East Coast.

5. Hike with friends

A full day of walking and life chatting with the people I care most about.

6. Buy a Little Black Dress

Because every young woman needs one!

7. Wear said Little Black Dress

Whether I dress it up, dress it down, or just find an excuse to wear it!

8. Smile more

To the point where people might actually thinking I'm crazy.

9. Pray more

To the point where God might actually think I'm crazy.

10. Worry less

To the point where I might actually think I'm not crazy.

11. Continue to study hard

Nothing say maturity like good grades!

12. Read for fun as much as possible

And pick books I wouldn't normally read, just to see if I like them or not.

13. Pay attention to the news

And become educated in what's happening all over the world.

14. Change my perspective

In order to challenge myself.

15. Find an internship/job

Take the next step into adulthood.

16. Improvise more

As a way to stop over-planning my life.

17. Eat more ice cream

Because, honestly, why would I stop?

18. Donate money/time to someone in need

Even a little can go a long way.

19. Learn what "Shaken, not stirred" actually means

And why James Bond is so determined to have one rather than the other.

20. Spend less time on Instagram

Because everything on there is fake.

21. Spend more time with family and friends

Because those are the true double-taps I want!

22. (Bonus) Drink Responsibly

Adding one for good luck.

Here are my twenty-one things I hope to accomplish while I'm twenty-one years old. Do you agree with my list? Do you think I'm over-zealous? Did I forget to add something I just can't live without during my 21st? Let me know your thoughts!

The Unwritten Rules Of "Talking"

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
