21 Thanks For My Roommate

If you're in college you are fortunate enough to have lived with a roommate or two.

Roommates are supposed to be that one friend that you can do everything with, and its not weird.

Freshman year is either great or terrible. Luckily for me, my future roommate moved in down the hall second semester. We didn't share a room sophomore year, but third times the charm, right?

Junior year was our year. We had been friends since freshman year, and made it through all the craziness that was our roommate. So, heres to her!

1. Thank you for not going crazy freshman year.

We both had crazy roommates, that we made the mistake of keeping for our second year. But, at least we found each other!

2. Thanks for going to parties with me.

Even if it only is once a year. We have fun and take care of each other, there's nothing more I could ask for

3. Thanks for driving me when I'm too lazy to walk

Don't worry I'll always pick you up from Woodard hall after a long day.

4. Thanks for always getting food with me

Even when you just started to cook dinner.

5. Thank you for using my meal swipes at the end of the year

Because I avoid campus food at all costs

6. Thanks for making me be social

Otherwise I would never leave my bed and Netflix

7. And always documenting it

Always have to take a picture for proof

8. Thank you for giving me the room to myself when I need it

9. Thanks for listening to all my pointless drama

Boyfriends, friends, or stupid stuff I make up

10. Thank you for letting me drag you to the gym

I just can't go alone

11. Thank you for telling me my ex's new girl is ugly

dumb, not good enough, and anything else I need to hear

12. Thanks for being my study buddy

Because otherwise we'd fail out of school

13. Thank you for letting me stay up late when you're trying to sleep

14. Thanks for setting as many alarms as me

Otherwise mine would just be obnoxious

15. Thanks for loving brownies as much as I do

and basically anything else chocolate

16. Thank you for tolerating my bad choices

and telling me everything will be okay

17. Thank you for making sure I make it home

Or at least checking why I'm not home

18. Thanks for loving tv shows as much as me

QUANTICO! (we are watching it as I'm writing)

19. Thanks for always going to giant with me

and only buying ice cream

20. Thank you for always laughing at my jokes

21. Most importantly thank you for being my best friend!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
