Right outside DC are some of the richest counties in the USA, they make up what has come to be know as NOVA. Some think it should be separate from the rest of VA, but regardless it is one of the best places you could call home.

1. You know nothing about politics

You would think being a metro ride away from the President, you would pick up on something, but most of us are just clueless.

2. You've interned for some congress member

Okay, so if you have, then you might have picked up on a few things

3. You tell people you're from DC

... Because its just easier to explain, especially if they aren't from VA.

4. Great Falls

Is probably your favorite place in the summer! Hiking, kayaking, or swimming it's a great place to cool off with friends.

5. You shop for fun

With all the malls and outlets, it's hard not too.

6. You have a love/hate relationship with the metro

The silver line in particular. Sure its great for a night in the city, just stay away when there's a sporting event.

7. You've been to all the museums

I think I went to the art museums every year in grade school.

8. Hokies or Wahoos

Pick one and love them for the rest of your life, it's not optional.

9. You've toured the white house at least once

And it wasn't as great as you imagined.

10. At least one of your parents works for the government

...and you probably will too.

11. You graduated high school at the Patriot Center

It was the only place big enough to hold your class of 600 and all their families.

12. You've met a Redskins player

Or have at least seen one at the mall. Hint: Chris Cooley loves Dick's at Dulles.

13. All your friends went to JMU, UVA, or VT

Or they at least applied to them.

14. Traffic is an everyday thing for you

Toll road, Rt 7, 66, 50, the list goes on and on. As does the traffic.

15. Travel soccer was probably your thing

At some point in your life you played soccer, and if you didn't everyone you knew did.

16. Or AAU

It's all about sports.

17. Construction is everywhere

But, you're use to it so you hardly even notice.

18. All you want is a SONIC

You see the commercials, but the closest one is an hour away. TV is such a tease.

19. But you love Silver Diner

Cause you have to have some place with good shakes.

20. Snow days

Possibility of snow? Don't worry, you won't have to leave the comfort of your home for a week.

21. You think NOVA is better than anywhere else.

And let's face it, it is.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
