Davidson Fine Arts

Davidson Fine Arts is amazing and awful in its own special ways. We spend 40+ hours there a week, depending on rehearsals and schedules. But with our special combination of teachers and students, we can't help but have a love/hate relationship with DFA. Without further ado, here are 21 moments we can all relate to as Davidson students!

1. Running down the hallway when you see Ms. Harper and you know you're out of dress code.

2. Real footage of the Richmond County Board of Education investeing in IReady.

3. Cheering on teachers when they tell underclassmen to get off of the senior grass.

4. When you have to make it look like you're being productive in virtual school.

5. Watching couples show hardcore PDA in the hallways while you're trying to get to class.

6. Coming to school dressed in an actual trash bag after a long night of studying and homework.

7. Teachers after assigning us 3497 tests, 32493 projects, and 9210 pounds of homework every week.

8. Stress eating before any and every one of Mrs. Fortson's tests.

9. When you can't remember what you ate for dinner last night but Mrs. Luquire says, "You should have learned this in the womb, why don't ya'll know this already?"

10. When Ms. Sneed says anything, ever.

11. Hearing teachers gossip about other teachers.

12. Arriving at school stress-free and then realizing you didn't finish the AP Calc/AP Stat homework.

13. Just call us over at DFA the Shady Bunch.

14. All of our favorite drinks the night before a test.

15. "Since you guys are talking, I assume that means you're done and you need more work to do..."

16. Eating school lunch or breakfast and regretting it immediately.

17. Hearing the music as you walk by Ms. Mayfield's dance classes throughout the day.

18. Having 21874 hour rehearsals for musicals, Black History Show, Fine Arts Festival, Coffeehouse, etc etc etc etc...

19. Hating and complaining about every aspect of school.

20. But hearing anyone from outside of DFA talk badly about us and getting super defensive.

Because at the end of the day....

21. Once a DFA Titan, always a DFA Titan!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
