Life has taught me a lot, but I have so much more to learn.

By the time you read this article, I will have turned 21! It’s a very exciting age and has a lot of hype because you can buy alcohol legally. As fun as that sounds, I’m more excited about the person that I have become since my 20th birthday. We all grow and change in a year, whether it's small or big changes. I have come to learn that changes are good and can teach you some valuable lessons. I would like to share some of those lessons with you today as I celebrate turning 21.

1. There is no set time for you to have your first kiss, first boyfriend or first anything. You do them when your ready.

2. Don’t take yourself too seriously all the time. There are times to be serious and times to let go and have fun.

3. Be honest, it makes things easier for others and they will appreciate it.

4. Your flaws do not define who you are, you define yourself by how you treat others and how you act.

5. It’s okay to ask for help, its not a sign of weakness.

6. Help others when you can but take care of yourself; it's important.

7. Don’t place your self worth on whether a guy likes you or not; you are worth so much more.

8. Stay close with friends that push you out of your comfort zone; you will thank them later.

9. Two words: Let go. Let go of people that hurt you in the past. Let go of people you couldn’t be friends with. Letting go is easier said than done, but so worth it in the end.

10. Find a hobby/activity that makes you happy and do it everyday.

11. If you love someone, tell them right away.

12. Take risks. Don't stay in your comfort zone all the time. Taking risks helps you grow as a person and learn new lesson, whether that lesson be good or bad.

13. When someone hurts you, don’t be vengeful toward them.

14. The number of likes you get on a picture isn’t worth anything at all.

15. Have courage, and be kind (yes that's from the Cinderella movie, but it is so important to be kind to others and have courage to follow your dreams).

16. Don’t focus on your negative traits or flaws. Instead focus on what makes you happy.

17. Having strong faith in whatever you believe in can really change how you see things.

18. One of my most favorite pieces of advice is: Fake it till you make it. Try it out, it works.

19. Just because you want something to happen right now doesn’t mean that it won’t ever happen. Things take time, it will happen when its supposed to happen.

20. Don’t close people off; break down your barriers and let them in.

21. I know loving yourself is easier said than done, but being comfortable in your own skin feels so good and everyone deserves to feel their best everyday.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
