21 Bible Verses To Get You Through A Rough Patch In Your Life

I have about two months left here at home until I return to school on the mainland. At the beginning of summer, I needed this vacation due to the numerous stressors I had in school. It was time for a break. Little did I know I would be faced with different but the same types of stress here at home. I am not one to lie; it has been a difficult summer for me so far, facing many unexpected struggles.

To remind me that my current state is temporary, I have sought the following verses from the Bible:

1. 1 Chronicles 16:11

Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!”

2. 1 Corinthians 16:13

“Be watchful, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.”

3. 1 John 5:14

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.”

4. 1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you.”

5. Deuteronomy 31:8

It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

6. Isaiah 40:29

“He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.”

7. Isaiah 41:10

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

8. Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

9. John 1:5

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

10. John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

11. Joshua 1:9

“Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

12. Matthew 7:7

“Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

13. Philippians 4:13

"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

14. Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

15. Psalm 9:10

“The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, stronghold in times of trouble.

16. Psalms 18:32

“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.”

17. Psalm 32:8

“I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.”

18. Psalm 46:1-3

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

19. Psalm 50:15

“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you will glorify me.”

20. Psalm 55:22

“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

21. Psalm 91:1-2

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!”

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much.
