This political season has been one for the history books... literally. Countless records have been broken such as an all-time high of voter turnout, which was 139 million, and this groundbreaking idea of a female frontrunner that had never been seen before in American history was brought forth. But the history-making does not and will not end there.
This presidential season has been one of the most debated and argued in American history and Donald Trump along with many other elected officials are highly controversial topics of discussion in today's society, which essentially add to the overall tone of today's political atmosphere, an intense and cutthroat field.
But despite the importance of the large-scale elections, the smaller elections can be of utmost importance as well. The midterm elections are coming up and these have the potential to completely change the political climate for the remainder of Donald Trump's first term in office. Whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, or a moderate this election could completely turn the tables in our government. Every single seat (435) of the House of Representatives are up for grabs and 35 of the 100 Senate seats are also being voted on.
As of right now, Republicans control both the House and the Senate but that could soon change following the Midterm elections on November sixth. This reversal of political party powers could completely hinder Donald Trump from moving forward with some of his most iconic policies. On the other hand however if the Republicans maintain majority then this is a pretty good sign that Donald Trump's policies and stances regarding things such as immigration, abortion, and health care will probably be heavily and quickly enacted due to his immense amount of support and backup coming from the House and Senate.
I'm not asking you to declare a party affiliation or to choose a side right here right now, but I am asking you to get involved and vote. Everyone has an opinion on politics and elections are your chance to voice yours.
