2016 was great and all, but I'm sure 2017 will be even better. Here's the resolutions I will achieve:

1. Become a healthier me.

It's time to finally feel healthy and get back to where I need to be. Eating better and exercising more to achieve those pesky goals I have had for myself for years now. It's also about becoming more mentally healthy. Sleeping better to improve my attitude during the day. Not thinking about negative thoughts and becoming more positive about life. Setting short term goals to better reach my long term goals to inspire motivation and determination instead of defeat and fears of failure. This is the year I will improve myself in all aspects.

2. Try something new.

Whether it be something big like trying out a new job or something small in regards to maybe trying out a new recipe. Doesn't matter. Just try to get out there and try something out of the box that I don't normally do. Need to become comfortable with the concept of being uncomfortable. With graduation happening for a lot of us, it's time to move forward from school and try something new.

3. Don't dwell on the past.

It's in the past for a reason. It's time to move forward and think about the present and what my future holds for me. Dwelling on the past will never improve anything.

4. Spend more time with family and friends.

As I get older, I start to realize that friendships don't last forever. Some will go away because of lack of communication. It's time to rekindle those relationships. Spend more time with my family instead of wanting to be alone.

5. Become the best version of myself.

I can do great things. I have the capability of doing a lot if I only set my mind into doing it.

There are countless upon countless goals I can set for myself, but these are the big ones for 2017.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
