In a world filled with celebrities who make their fortune from sex and scandals, it is rare to find a respectable role-model for today's young women. However, there is one young woman who has grown to be a great role model for girls today and her name is Sadie Robertson. Sadie is a 19-year old girl born in West Monroe, Louisiana. She starred in the hit television show “Duck Dynasty” and she is the author of “Live Original,” a book about faith and Christian values. In today’s world, we could use a lot more role-models such as Sadie Robertson and here’s why:

She puts God first.

Sadie was raised in a Christian family and is full-heartily devoted to God. Most celebrities tend to steer clear from the topic of religion, unlike Sadie who is not afraid to let everyone know about her Christian beliefs. Sadie has devoted her life to God and just recently finished her 2016 tour that was devoted to the motivation and inspiration of others.

She is original (hence the name of her book).

Sadie is less worried about her physical appearance and is more worried about empowering young women through Christian values. She doesn’t pile on pounds of makeup or wear skimpy clothes to get attention. Instead, she focuses on what is important in life, such as her religion, family and friends.

She is family-oriented.

If you have ever watched the show “Duck Dynasty,” then you understand that Sadie comes from a tight-knit family. Despite the fame from the TV show, the Robertsons have remained close and have used their fame for the better. They devote their time to helping others and sharing their Christian values with people around the country.

She is independent.

When Sadie and her boyfriend, Blake Coward, broke up, Sadie released a YouTube video about it. Instead of bashing her ex-boyfriend, she took the breakup as an opportunity to help and pray for others. In the video, Robertson says "Break ups are just a part of life. They just are. It's sad, it really is but God has someone good for you, keep that in mind." Later in the video, she continues to pray for anyone with a broken heart. Therefore, it is apparent that Robertson doesn’t need to rely on a boy to be positive and successful.

She is respectable and modest.

Sadie is known for her Christian beliefs, unlike celebrities such as Kim Kardashian who gained fame from a viral sex tape. Unlike most celebrities of today, Robertson does not feel the need to wear a ton of makeup and show too much skin to get attention. Sadie is still a pretty girl without makeup and tight clothes. This is apparent in Sadie’s clothing lines with Rue 21 and Sherri Hill, where her designs are elegant and modest.

So, whether you agree with all of Sadie’s Christian beliefs or not, you can learn a thing or two from her confidence to be unique and original. The young women of this world need a role-model who is authentic, unique and respectable. In my opinion, Sadie Robertson is the perfect girl for that job.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
