No matter the year, there are undeniable and monumental trends in the fashion industry. With 2017 underway, what is to come and what is being left in 2016?

1. Patches

This trend takes personalized fashion to the next level. Effect: May make you feel like Kurt Cobain or a laptop cover.

2. Flared jeans

According to the fashion industry, skinny jeans are on their way out and the flared, bell bottom jeans are returning to their rightful place of formal glory.

3. Slip dresses

An undoubtable ode to the wonder and greatness of the 1990s.

4. High necklines

The plunging deep "V"? Throw 'em out.

5. Backless shoes

Tall high heels are so out, and mule-styled, backless shoes are taking their place. And all women's feet and ankles rejoice.

6. Bold stripes

Vertical, horizontal, diagonal. Bring them all.

And last but certainly not least....

7. Confidence

While it's great to keep up with trends, wear whatever you want to wear, be yourself and serve the world some fiercely original realness.

You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
