Here's some of the music you'll have to look forward to in 2017!
1. Sainte
Some of you may have heard of We Are The In Crowd. Well, Sainte is composed of three WATIC members: Tay Jardine, Cameron Hurley, and Mike Ferri. The music video for their first song "Technicolor" lives right up to its title: bright, colourful, and definitely cheerful. The members have been teasing pics of a new music video, and Jardine has announced that they have two music videos coming our way. With a bit of luck, they'll lead to an album!
2. As It Is' "Okay." (January 20th, 2017)
"Okay." is an album that I'm really excited for. As It Is' second album is going to be nothing short of an emotional roller coaster, and I don't know about you, but I'm ready for it. The three singles they've released from "Okay." have been riddled with personal experiences and the classic As It Is sound. This album is going to be a good one, so keep an ear out.
3. All Time Low
Alright, we have no evidence as to whether All Time Low will release anything next year, but vocalist Alex Gaskarth has already announced that they are recording a new album. And that's all we know for now. Stay tuned...
4. One Ok Rock's "Ambitions" (January 11th, 2017)
"Ambitions" will be One Ok Rock's first release on Fuelled By Ramen Records. They have already released three singles from the album, all of which are incredibly fresh, new, but still true to One Ok Rock's style... Save for the solely English vocals, something all One Ok Rock fans will have some trouble adjusting to.
5. We Came As Romans
There is no evidence whether or not WCAR are working on a new album, but keeping in mind that they released their single Wasted Age this September, perhaps it isn't just a speculation. Also, WCAR are known for releasing albums every other year - and their last one came out in 2015. If they do release an album in 2017, it will be their first without their drummer Eric Choi, who left the band in October.
6. The Maine
After the phenomenal "American Candy," everyone's hopes are high for the next album The Maine are going to release. Earlier this month, they announced that they had completed writing an album, and that it's ready to be mixed. If all goes well, it will be released next year!
7. Heyrocco
I know what you're thinking: "Heyrocco? Who?!" Wikipedia describes them as an "American grunge band from Charleston, South Carolina," but I describe them as my favourite band of the moment. Seriously: I have definitely streamed weeks worth of their music since the day I accidentally stumbled upon them on Spotify, a couple months ago. Their Twitter suggests that they're working on new material, so here's hoping that we'll get to hear some of that in 2017.
8. Machine Gun Kelly
Alright, MGK doesn't fit in to the rock list I've been compiling thus far. However, after having appeared in Alternative Press multiple times and playing Warped Tour, I think MGK should be an honorary member of the alternative scene. He hasn't formally announced a release date but has, on multiple occasions, confirmed that a new album is in the works.
9. 5 Seconds of Summer
This one's another uncertain claim. 5SOS have fallen off the radar since the end of their last tour in October, but there have been whispers of them writing new material. Save for their single "Girls Talk Boys," released in July, 5SOS haven't released any new music since October 2015. Will 2017 be the year of new 5 Seconds of Summer music?
10. Less Than Jake
No official release date either, but saxophonist Peter "JR" Wasilewski has stated that they will definitely be releasing a new album in the upcoming year. It's been three years since they released their last album "See The Light," and they've spent those years touring heavily. Hopefully, 2017 will point to new music!
