2016 has been a crazy year.

From college applications to senior year to a year of national turmoil. So let me share with you the biggest lesson I have learned this year: sit back and let God, be God. As I have watched God provide time and time again with college acceptances, finances, and so much more. But sometimes we have to learn to be still and allow him to move.

By sitting back and allowing Him to take control, we let go of our own plans and His plan is set into motion. Time and time again I have learned that for some reason my plans are not nearly as great as His. Whether it is in the small things, like how we respond to conflict, or whether it is in the big things like college decisions, He has paved a way for us.

As a self-proclaimed control freak it can be extremely difficult to trust someone other than myself. But here's the cool part: God knows me better than I know myself. Consider Romans 8:27, "And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God." So, not only does God have the best plan out there, but the Holy Spirit is there to pave the way and provide guidance even in the small things.

It can be difficult to put this in the perspective of our own lives and so often I have read similar articles or pieces on the very same thing, but felt like it never truly applied. I still do not know where I am going to college, and as I am watching peers send in their deposits and nail down their choice it is difficult. I feel as if the world is spinning faster and I'm getting left behind. But here is my challenge to myself and fellow Christians: sit back and watch God move. You'll be pretty amazed with the end result

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
