As society beings to come down from the election hangover, some people may just now be accepting that Donald Trump is the next president of the United States. Who would have ever thought, honestly? If you were to tell me ten years ago, that any of these events that have just recently taken place in our world were to actually happen, I would say “lol no.” It's a crazy time to be alive in right now as it begins to look more and more like the end. I mean the Oakland Raiders are actually really good and I'm pretty sure the book of Revelations mentions that the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series is a sure sign of the second-coming of Christ. As the world of politics continues to shock the nation, so does the world of sports. Here's a list of some of the wildest events that we would have never guessed to happen, that are actually happening right now...
1. The Chicago Cubs win the World Series
The only group of people who could have predicted this ten, even five years ago are Cubs fans themselves because Cubs fans predict this every year despite their record (am I right?). The 2016 World Series was monumental for many reasons. Both teams came alive in such an explosive fashion in the past couple years which set the stage for a unique championship series. Ask any baseball fan, and they’ll tell you game 6 was one of the best baseball games that they’ve ever witnessed. Indeed, it was. Welcome to the big leagues, boys!!2. Dwayne Wade wins in Miami
Okay so this doesn't sound too out of the ordinary but the only thing is Dwayne Wade wins in Miami while wearing a Chicago Bulls jersey. In 2010 the world watched as the Miami Heat, an Olympic superstar dream team claimed the NBA Championship title. Six years and two championships later, James is back in Cleveland, Bosh is in limbo, and Wade is home. Wade entered free-agency early this summer and not a lot of teams initially took him seriously except for the Chicago Bulls. Wade said it himself “If I’m going to leave Miami, it’s going to be for Chicago.” And so he did. Thursday night Wade returned to Miami to play against the team he was with for 13 seasons. It was a bittersweet homecoming. He and his new squad got the W but his thoughts on the game were similar to mine – “weirdest basketball game I’ve played in my life. I couldn’t wait till it was over.”
3. Oakland Raiders are top three.
Raider Nation rejoice! The Raiders no longer the laughing stalk of the NFL! Their convincing win over Denver last week proved that they not only can compete, but also win. Oakland has not made the playoffs since winning the 2002 AFC championship. For the first time since then, the Raiders have a promising record of 7-2, good for first in the AFC West, as well as a QB who’s a legitimate MVP candidate. I’m talking to you, Derek Carr.
4. Metta World Peace has a good chance to be a good coach in the NBA
I’m not kidding when I tell you that Metta World Peace texts Rick Carlisle regularly about coaching -and that Rick Carlisle, Mavericks coach, says he has a good chance! Metta World Peace for those who do not recall is the same man as Ron Artest, the infamous star of Malice in the Palace with the Indiana Pacers way back in 2004. However, World Peace is serious about this gig! Carlisle respects his interest and thinks he’s got a chance to be a good coach because he’s “passionate and knowledgeable about the game.” But hey, if Donald Trump can be a United States president, I have no doubt that Metta World Peace can be an NBA coach.
