The 2016 Presidential election has been an emotional one. From the very first day of candidates who decided to run, to the very last second of the vote counting, it’s been exhausting for all people involved. It’s safe to say that for my very first time being able to vote in a presidential election, it’s been pretty intense. Now that I’ve had some time to debrief, I’d like to share with you the presidential election as told by “Friends”.
1.Going to the polls for the first time
BEST! DAY ! EVER!
2. Joining the "I Voted" club
Free pizza?! Puppies?! Cotton candy?! JUST BECAUSE I VOTED?!!
3. "Doing" your homework while watching the live vote count
Yes, I did do the reading for homework.
4. Waiting for the final "Toss Up States" to call in
Seriously. California, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire shaved some years off my life.
5.Trying to stay awake for the final results
So. Tired. Must. See. End. Vote. Count.
6. The Next Morning
How could we?! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!
7. A moment of panic
What about the children?! The women?! The LGBTQ community?! The minorities?!!
8. Sadness
Conveniently, it rained on November 9th at Keene State, fitting the mood of the day. Pure, sadness.
9. When it really hits you Hillary didn't win...
She was so close to shattering that glass ceiling...why America...why?!
10. Finally, coming together.
Despite who you voted for, it's time that we stand up together and try to heal the divided nation. It's time to share love and treat each other with immense kindness. We need to stand in solidarity with people all over the country, the world even, to fight for the equality of all people.
"If we stand together and work together with respect for our differences, strengthen our convictions, and love for this nation, our best days are still ahead of us." -Hillary Clinton
