The NBA regular season is over and 16 teams from the Eastern and Western Conference are going to the playoffs to battle for a chance to go to the NBA Finals. While the Golden State Warriors made the regular season interesting and fun to watch, watching Kobe Bryant score 60 points was the “cherry on top” to his wonderful NBA career. Now, the NBA playoffs are underway and we will see which two teams (one from the Eastern and Western Conference) will meet in the NBA Finals to battle for the championship.
Who will win the Eastern Conference Finals?
The favorite to win the Eastern Conference is the Cleveland Cavaliers led by two-time NBA champion Lebron James. I believe the Cleveland Cavaliers will find their way back to the NBA Finals as long as LeBron James is playing. While the question of the consistency of players, (such as Kevin Love and J.R. Smith) will be tested, I believe both will play consistently and up to expectations enough to help the Cavaliers advance.
The Eastern Conference does not have multiple teams to challenge them except for two teams, the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. The Cavaliers beat the Celtics two out of three times in the regular season but the guard play of Isaiah Thomas, Evan Turner and Avery Bradley could pose a great challenge against the Cavaliers.
The Miami Heat, also known as the former team of LeBron James, has beat the Cavaliers two out of three times this season with both wins in Miami. This has caused people to question LeBron James' mindset while playing his former team. He has not won in Miami ever since his return to Cleveland. With Dwayne Wade, Gerald Green, Toney Douglas and Hassan Whiteside on the court, it could be a potential seven game series. If Chris Bosh could play, it might be a different outcome in the series.
Who will win the Western Conference Finals?
The favorite to win the Western Conference Finals is the Golden State Warriors led by defending and probable MVP Stephen Curry. I pick the Golden State Warriors to make it out of the Western Conference but through a series of tough and long series from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers and the San Antonio Spurs. They might not meet all three of those teams, but the San Antonio Spurs is the biggest threat to the Warriors.
Although the Warriors have beat the Spurs three out of four times this season, the resilience, coaching and playmaking of the Spurs makes them a big threat. Playing the Warriors four times has helped them figure out weaknesses in their team in which they can expose and take advantage of. I expect both of these teams to meet in the Western Conference Finals and for it to be a seven game series. Any team could win in this series, but I believe the Warriors will find a way to win in seven games.
Who will win the NBA Finals?
I predict a rematch of last year NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. You may recall the Cavaliers losing the series 4-2 with the absence of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. This year, we all expect both to be 100 percent healthy and play in the Finals. With that being said, I believe the Cleveland Cavaliers will win the NBA Finals. Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and J.R. Smith are the X-factors in this series. LeBron James has also been playing extraordinary (or mad as most people would say) to end the last ten games of the regular season. I believe his play will carry on into the playoffs and NBA Finals.
The Golden State Warriors has completed their quest to 73 games this season. I believe because of this they will become tired when they battle in the NBA Finals. The extraordinary play of LeBron James and fatigue will be too much to handle for the Warriors and the Cavaliers will win the series 4-2. LeBron James will win his third championship and NBA Finals MVP.
