You all knew it was coming. After a very convincing win for the Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers (115-101), the series came down to one final do-or-die game at the Oakland Oracle Arena. This was really surprising to me, especially after the Cavaliers seemed like they had given up in Game Four of this historical showdown.
Curry was able to drop 38 points in Game Four, and he looked to be the star man leading the Warriors into Game Five to end the series right then and there. Interestingly enough, Lebron James found motivation from an iconic movie series that some of you may have heard of: "The Godfather," and before Game Six, he decided to watch the entire trilogy (I guess it really helped him make an offer for the Warriors that they couldn't refuse). The injured Andrew Bogut of the Golden State Warriors also affected his team greatly in Game Six. Andre Iguodala started in place of the injured Bogut, and Thompson and Curry really tried to play the ball themselves for the majority of Game Six. All of these factors ended up doing harm to the Warriors, and the Cavaliers really did a number on them.
They did so much of a number that Steph Curry threw his mouthpiece in anger at one of the Cavaliers fans (which was actually pretty funny, if you ask me) and exclaimed heavily at the referees. Lebron added to this damage even more by making Curry foul him so much that Curry got ejected from the game in only the third half, with much time remaining. That remaining time could have helped the Warriors get back in the lead, were it not for those lousy calls and the anger from Curry. This was also the first time Steph Curry was ejected from a game, and obviously, it felt horrible for him. He even expressed in an interview afterwards that he didn't even know why he said half the things he said, and it was anger and frustration for him. It's understandable -- the pressure on Curry and his fellow players in this final series to maintain that great win/loss ratio they had all season, only to suffer such a bad defeat, made it even worse. I'm was hopeful for the Warriors to bounce back into their rhythm in Game Seven. A lack of focus and overwhelming frustration led to an overwhelming amount of unfair circumstances that engulfed the team and dwindled their confidence levels. It was important for the Warriors to remember how they did in the previous games and to remember that they are stronger when united. They must remember not to be against every call and to focus on the game, regardless of the referees' poor decisions.
After Game 7, I can proudly say that being a Golden State Warriors fan in so rewarding in the aspect that even when they don't win, they deserved to be in the finals in the first place. I thought the Cavaliers were mostly dominant in ball possession and Lebron James really showed what he does best when it comes to knocking down those points. He makes it look so easy. Though I am still disappointed that the game ended in a loss, I still believe that Warriors showed the reason why they should have been in the finals in the first place.
