Like the mythical Phoenix, the Golden State Warriors rose from the ashes and completed a comeback that no one in the basketball community saw coming when they won three straight games against the Oklahoma City Thunder to win the Western Conference Finals and secured a date with the Cleveland Cavaliers on the NBA Finals. Not only is this finals matchup intriguing because it is a rematch, but the legacies of some of the greatest players of this generation are on the line.
When it comes to LeBron James, the fact that he has a losing record of 2-4 has and always will be a major strike against him. Even though Wilt Chamberlin who is probably the greatest center in the game’s history has an NBA Finals record of 2-5. But listen, this judging of James’s record in the big series does have its points. Look at the type if Eastern Conference LeBron plays in, the Eastern Conference is always been joked around about because all the top tier teams in the Association are in the Western Conference. Just look at the West, the 73-game winning team in the Warriors, the San Antonio Spurs that ache four hall of famers in their team and two superstars who are starting to cement their name into the basketball history books. Oh yeah, and don't forget about the Thunder with the legendary tandem of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. That was also not as deep a year for the West, look at last year when the Houston Rockets had a tremendous year and the Los Angeles Clippers are nothing to ignore.
However, if LeBron James and the Cavaliers are able to defeat a Warriors team that is in a legendary status right now James will be able to be put into the VIP group of basketball greats without any further question. Not only would it be great if he beat them but if he also beat the Warriors with as weak a team that he is on (compared to the other teams he has been on of course). Let's face it, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love are in no way an upgrade from Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. Now lets look at that seventy three win team, what hasn't been said about the Golden State Warriors? With every single fan and commentator forming an opinion about this and their face of the franchise who is the back to back MVP in Stephen Curry.
This team is making their doubters eat their words, and they are not soft and sweet. There has never been a team like these Warriors, who have been able to dominate the league pretty much with three point shot and with a “small” lineup. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have taken the league by storm with shots of incredible distance add another all-star in Draymond Green and you have the makings of a legendary team. As to how this year’s Finals will go, it has the makings of a classic, I believe it's gonna be the Warriors in six games this just seems to be their time even though they look mortal now thanks to the Thunder but with how dominant they have been, it is hard to believe anyone else winning the Larry O’Brian trophy.
