The 2016 Golden Globe awards graced our televisions on January 10th, 2016. It was a night filled with fabulous fashion, amazing honors, incredible speeches, cringe-worthy jokes, and hilarious unexpected moments. AND I cannot express to you how sad I was that I couldn't some how manage to sneak my way in to the show. The Golden Globes took place at the Beverly Hilton, which is only about 20 minutes from my house. *heavy sigh* MAYBE ONE DAY.
Here are a few highlights from the night:
FASHION:
1. Jennifer Lawrence
JLAW slayed in Dior Haute Couture. And can we just talk about this 156 carat Chopard necklace? AND JEN WON FOR BEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMA! YES GIRL.
2. Olivia Wilde
Olivia looks simply chic and stunning in this Michael Kors look. I am a huge sucker for this color as well.
3. Lady Gaga
Gaga is the epitome of old Hollywood glamour in this gorgeous Versace gown. SHE ALSO WON A GLOBE FOR AMERICAN HORROR STORY. YASSS GAGA YASSSS.
4. Saiorse Ronan
Saiorse looks like a Greek goddess in this Yves Saint Laurent Couture by Hedi Slimane gown.
5. Brie Larson
This Golden Globe winning gal embodied her award in this incredible Calvin Klein gown. OBSESSED.
6. Jennifer Lopez
What is there even to say? JLO slays the game every single time. This Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown is no exception.
7. Zendaya
I love Zendaya so much! She looks IMPECCABLE in this Marchesa look.
8. Jaimie Alexander
I am a huge fan of emerald green, and Jaimie did this look perfectly!
9. Gina Rodriguez
WOW. Gina looks lovely in Zac Posen. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color.
10. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
I am a huge fan of Rosie's style, and she did not disappoint on this red carpet!
MOMENTS:
BEHOLD: The moment everyone is making a big deal out of for no reason.
Brie Larson is awesome.
Leo and Kate both winning Globes and reuniting....therefore and making our Titanic dreams come true.
Ricky Gervais was an alright host. He did make some good jokes, but most were pretty cringe worthy.
Here are some of his meanest jokes. (via EW)
— On introducing presenter Matt Damon: “He’s the only person Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to.”
— “The Hollywood Foreign Press deemed The Martian a comedy and even nominated it. And hence, Matt Damon is here tonight. So that worked a treat, didn’t it? To be fair, The Martian was a lot funnier than Pixels. But then again, so was Schindler’s List.“
— “Jennifer Lawrence made the news when she demanded equal pay for women in Hollywood. She received overwhelming support from people everywhere. There were marches on the street with nurses and factory workers saying, ‘How the hell can a 25-year-old live on $52 million?!’”
— On the films Joy and Trainwreck. “No, not the names of Charlie Sheen’s favorite hookers. The movies of these next two presenters.”
