Things To Look Forward To In 2016

TV Shows:

2016 looks promising in terms of television, including a ‘new-Era’ of Netflix originals that are to be released through the streaming platform. Other streaming services - like Amazon Prime and HBO - are also expected to release new original series. While many shows are getting the axe in 2016 (RIP American Idol), our future in television looks promising as new series emerge and old series return for new seasons.

Here are some anticipated TV shows, both new and returning…

American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson

Airing February 2nd on FX, this anthology series from the creators of American Horror Story will follow the trial of OJ Simpson. Each season will feature a new criminal story line, and based off of the trailer, this show looks pretty damn good. The show stars John Travolta, Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr., and David Schwimmer (Ross from Friends!), to name a few. This will definitely be on my watchlist!

Fuller House

Return to childhood nostalgia on February 26th. Fuller House will be released on Netflix and will follow the lives of DJ and Stephanie Tanner, and their best friend, Kimmy. Past 'Full House' stars such as Bob Saget and John Stamos are expected to make cameos in some of the episodes.

Game of Thrones: Season 6

Is Jon Snow dead? Is Jon Snow dead? IS HE DEAD? Did Sansa die, too? That was a pretty big leap after all. All of our questions will be answered in APRIL!

American Horror Story: Season 6 (TBD)

While the name for the 6th season of AHS has not yet been released, the series will be returning for a new season in 2016. Past themes have included a haunted house, an insane asylum, a witches' coven in New Orleans, a freak show in Florida, and a hotel in LA. Some theories have already been tossed around for Season 6, including Area 51 and radioactive test sites.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

One of my favorite childhood book series, brought to us by Lemony Snicket, is set to get its television debut in 2016. The series will be streamed through Netflix. At this time, little is known about specific casting details, but something to look forward to for sure!

Movies:

2016 looks like an exciting time for movie-goers, ranging from sequels, prequels, and new franchises.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Suicide Squad

August 5 cannot come soon enough!

Zoolander 2

Music:

2016 will also mark the return of many artists we have not heard from in a while; including the return of 80’s stars Elton John, David Bowie, Meat Loaf, and Bon Jovi. Gorillaz, known for their hit “Feel Good Inc.” has also revealed information for their return album. Artists from my angsty middle and high school days will also be returning, including Panic! At the Disco, The Killers, and Simple Plan. Other artists who are expected to release albums include Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Iggy Azalea, Major Lazer, and 50 Cent.

Life:

2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro: August 5th - August 21st

2016 Presidential Election: Tuesday, November 8th

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
