Everyone's favorite questionable, thought-provoking, fashion train wreck, and constant "Wait, did that just really happen?" awards show just aired. That's right, the annual Video Music Awards (VMAs) were held on MTV on August 30 in Los Angeles. Didn't see it live? You can catch up on all the big hits and misses here.
SPOILER ALERT: TSwift killed it (as usual) throughout the entire show (except her acceptance outfit for Blank Space).
BEST
Taylor Swift's new music video for "Wildest Dreams." Not only is her male co-star really cute (bonus points), she can pull off the dark hair really well.
Kanye West. I chose to put him in the best section simply because it was one of the weirdest acceptance speeches I've ever heard. I haven't been the world's biggest Kanye fan, but he was honored at the awards with the Video Vanguard award. His award speech was one of the most interesting I've heard in a while, and had a good point, but dragged on for a while, and I don't really know where he was going. But still... it's Kanye (for president 2020).
Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift's duo. Now you can idolize them, together.
Kanye, John Legend, Big Sean winning the category for best song with a message with "One Man." Not only is it a great song, but it also recognizes that sometimes there's a serious message behind the lyrics.
WORST
Miley Cyrus's outfits. Yes, Miley, we love you, but at a certain point, what you wear is really way too over the top.
Justin Bieber's performance. He hasn't been on the MTV stage in five years, and he definitely let people down. The dancing was okay, but the dancers were off at some points. You could also tell when he was actually singing versus the auto-tuned version of himself.
Iggy Azalea and Demi Lovato's duo. I thought Demi was performing fairly well except for the fact that she was over-sexualizing every body movement, but she and Iggy just did not have good chemistry on stage.
